The front staff was cordial and helpful - recommended a breakfast not at the hotel that was convenient, clean and priced well ... - directions were provided. Our bags were stored complimentary as we arrived too early for check in. Although this is a boutique hotel, the room was large, clean and internet was provided comlimentary as was a "raid" on the mini-bar (if you sign up with Klimpton - which does not cost anything). Easy to get to the subway and not too far a walk to the train.

Our 3 Year Anniversary
The Traveler Aug 19, 2009
We arrived in NYC for our first time for our 3 Year Anniversary. The Muse has a great atmosphere and the rooms are ... wonderfully decorated. The front desk (mostly female) were not friendly and appeared to have judged us before we even made it to the desk to check in. We are young and don't exactly wear the most expensive clothing, but we felt like splurging for our anniversary. However, the bell men and room service attendants were fantastic. They fixed our clogged tub, brought up our dry cleaning, and hailed us taxis with minimal delay. We continued to recieve excellent service from them throughout our stay. And we continued to be snubbed by the front desk from check-in to check-out. We spent quite a bit on the hotel amenities as well; spa services, room service from the restaurant and dry cleaning, nice tips to the bell men, some usage of the overpriced stocked refrigerator. And still- we were snubbed by the front desk. We never did see a manager around either. We didn't let this get to our mood too much as we were on vacation and happy to be out of town.

"The best hotel for location and price"
Silversand2121 Jul 14, 2009
I couldn't believe how nice the hotel and our room was. We were just steps away from Times Square and my girlfriends and I ... felt safe and loved it that we were always closeby to everything. The hotel staff was always so nice and our room was kept spotless. I have stayed in New Jersey before to save money on hotel but I was so surprised that this was the best hotel for the best price. If anybody is reading this and you are planning a weekend or vacation in New York by yourself or with friends, this is The Best hotel to stay at. Orbitz is awesome!

Nice hotel near Times Square
Travis Bickle Jul 13, 2009
My wife had stayed here once before, but never noticed that it's pet friendly. While that may be a plus for many, it's not ... for my family due to asthma/allergies. Thank God that The Muse is very well kept. One thing we observed is how most NYC hotels (and businesses for that matter) have small, tiny bathrooms. Not the Muse. In addition to a very spacious room, the bathroom is full sized. It was much larger than a Marriott that I recently stayed in outside of NYC. I would say this is great for anyone - business traveler or family - looking to be near Broadway or Times Square. You are less than a block away from the very center of Times Square, making it perfect for catching a show and picking up some souvenirs (M&M World, Hershy's, and MTV are all right there!). You can also stroll past broadway
Traveler type: Family
Be sure to not only walk to Broadway, but if you continue north past Broadway, there is a slew of restaraunts (my brother called it restaraunt row) as well as many great off-broadway theaters. You should also check out John's Pizzeria (ask someone for exact directions) - it's built in an old church, so it has great atmosphere and some of the best pizza in NYC!

Best location, superior service!
Mr. Satisfied Jul 7, 2009
I have stayed at the Muse, a Kimpton Hotel, twice this year. Each visit, I was impressed with the staff, the rooms, and ... amenities. The location is great! Just one half block away from the hustle of Time's Square. And only one and a half blocks from 5th Ave. shopping. The only discomfort I experienced during my stay, was that the air unit was broken in my room. July in New York can be, well, how shall I put it, d*&% muggy. They sent an engineer up right away, but the unit was broken and needed to be replaced. They did offer to walk me to a sister property, but that was six blocks away. The manager comped my in-room breakfast, and I was ushered to a new room in the morning on a higher floor, and a slightly larger room. All told, they did a great job of making up for the equipment failure. On a side note, the rooms are large, and so are the bathrooms by Manhattan standards! I love this place!

They have a free wine reception in the lobby each night, with wonderful quality wines and snacks. Plus free coffee and tea service in the morning. Be sure to enjoy a glass or two before you head out to dinner for the evening.

A larger-than-average room
Michele May 26, 2009
I've stayed at other boutique hotels in the Times Square area, but this one definitely had the biggest room. It was big ... enough to have 2 club chairs and a small table in addition to the standard desk & chair. Had guests for a couple of hours and they actually had someplace to sit besides the bed. Centrally located to everything a tourist would want, including the subway and local restaurants.

Classy and Clean - Home away from home
Kristian May 25, 2009
Our experience began with an extremely cheerful doorman grabbing out bags from the cab. We were lead into a warm, inviting ... lobby where the staff was happy to welcome us to their hotel. We had a very simple check in and was able to get into our room at 9am! (Note to self (and others) this will not always occur.)) Our room eas very clean, modern, and was delightfully comfortable. The bathroom was beautiful and extremely spacious for a NYC hotel. The feathertop bed will allow any person to be comfortable and have a restful night of sleep. While we were in NYC, we did a great deal of shopping and the spacious room did wonders for mulitple bags and piles of new clothes/shoes. We would recommend this hotel to anyone who is interested in a beautiful, clean, and modern. A+ to you, the Muse.

Great location for Times Square. The staff is very friendly. The bar and restaurant were dead in the water during our stay, ... but apparently were to re-open the day after we left. The frills (extra bar of soap in the bathroom, corkscrew in the bar set) were absent on our arrival--didn't know if this was a sign of competitive economy or an oversight by housekeeping. Overall, a fine experience, and we'll stay here again. If the price is right.

The Muse Hotel is our favorite in NY. We stay every year between Christmas and New Year's. Great location and great ... restaurants in walking distance. I have stayed at The Muse twice now over the period of three years. It is probably my favorite hotel in NYC and I will ... likely stay there again. The rooms are very comfortable and the staff is excellent. The location is right in the middle of Times Square, TKTS booth, and very convenient to most of the Broadway Theatres. I highly recommend The Muse. The hotel has large heaters over the doorway to accommodate smokers and those waiting for a cab.

Look elsewhere!
Sharanne Jul 20, 2008
I stayed at a Kimpton Hotel in Denver and loved it so I expected the same accommodations from The Muse. The room was ... decorated very nicely. I paid extra to have a little larger room but I don't know if I did get a larger room having not seen other rooms. My son and I got in at night and didn't notice the view out our windows (it was a corner room.) In the morning I had to turn on every light in the room to see. I then noticed that on one side of the room the windows faced a brick wall and the other windows were blocked by a huge air conditioner vent. I could not see out any of the windows and we had 4 of them! I am a little clostraphobic so this was not so pleasant. I asked to have our room changed and I was told that every room the size I paid for was like this and if I wanted to I could move several floors up and maybe it would not be as bad. I was ok with this but was then told that I needed to pack up my bags and store them in the lobby till another room was ready. We were leaving the next day and I wasn't about to spend the day packing and waiting for another room so we stayed in darkness another night. The woman I spoke to at the front desk was not about to make things easy for me. It seemed like she wanted to make it difficult so that I would say forget it and stay put in our room. The hotel is in a good location but on not so nice street. I would not stay at this hotel again.
