SHERATON HOTEL IN NEWARK

The hotel overall was nice. The fact that you had to pay $18 for parking was ridiculous also the hotel says it offers inernet ... service but you also have to pay additional for that and when I paid for it on-line I didn't get it I was on the phone with technical support for 1/2 and hour.

Quick Trip - Short Stay ... only a room

Would not stay here again, no AC!
New York Traveler Nov 6, 2009
Broken AC Unit, interior room of hotel, very hot. Management could not move us to another room. Management also stated ... that all rooms in hotel run on 1 heat/air unit & that hotel at time was running heat. Theomstate in room read 85 deg. When asked why there were separate AC units in each room with controls, Management gave no response. [...] Management did upon check out, once we mentioned not to rent room again until AC was fixed, waived the $18.00 parking fee. This is a lovely hotel but management was not good, we will unfortunately not stay here again. If not so late at night upon check-in, we would have asked for refund and relocated. We have stayed at Sheratons before and never has this experiance. We will therefore stay at the Hilton in the future.

very disappointing
baby Nov 2, 2009
first when i checked in and got to the 9th floor the room key was not activated, i called from a house phone and was told to ... wait there for someone, we waited for a while and people were looking at us in strange ways, then two lamps were not working which made the room very dim. the glass mirror door closet would not close and sort of block the entrance to the bathroom, and also had a crack on it..i did not expect that from a Sheraton hotel.... i was very disappointed....

Just ok
Not very happy Oct 26, 2009
I felt like the staff was not as friendly as they should have been. They only spook when they were spoken to. When we walked ... in there was no communication. No good morning no nothing. The parking was another issue, it was sooooo expensive to park there. I was getting married that week end I was never told that I had to pay for parking and how much it would be. After my wedding rehearsal my bridal party and I went to my room to talk about some last min. detals and we had to pay $6.00 for one hour. Thats crazy! The food is very expensive too. Oh by the way after I got married and my husband and I came back to the room No one said a word. No congratulation no nothing and I was still in my dress. They act like they didn't even see us walk in!

In the slums!
squidney Aug 20, 2009
This hotel was dirty, the staff spok broken english...if that. It is located close to a jail making it difficult for an ... evening run. Everything in the hotel looked and smelled old. Don't get fooled by the nice looking pool area witht the rooms right abve the noise from the pool makes it difficult to even make a phone call while in the room. Hotle resturants were expensive for what you got and not many other choices near by.

Great Hotel - Great Beds - Great Service
On the Road Again Bob Aug 16, 2009
This hotel is my pick anytime I am in the New York City area. It is head and shoulders above the hotels in the City, has ... plenty of parking, and very reasonable in cost.
Traveler type: Business
When you drive from the hotel to and from New York City, keep your options open between using either I-78 or the Polaski Skyway (US 1). Check Google first and find out where the traffic jams are. Many times we will use the Skyway instead of I-78 and bypass long backups on I-78. Also, use your GPS to get to and from the hotel. The road network around Newark Airport can be very confusing but the GPS will cut right through it and get you there quickly.

Peaceful stay
Tired, hungry traveler Aug 5, 2009
We had a redeye arrival (1:30am) and were greeted by a friendly shuttle driver, excellent front dest staff that got us our ... room quickly. We were traveling all day without a chance to eat and everything in the area closed at 2:00am (no services in the Sheraton at that time of the morning). Luckily the Holiday Inn next door had a small deli open serving sandwiches, salads and drinks (2 minute walk; not bad) and also a small bar was open.

OK, but only for quick night at Airport
Traveling Mom of 3 Aug 5, 2009
Chose this hotel for its shuttle service to Newark Airport, connecting rooms (for traveling with three children ages 3 ... through 8) and swimming pool. The hotel was just average. The rooms were large and beds comfortable and clean. The bathroom was small and, despite an obviously updated granite sink counter, needed improving. There was some mold around tub grout and staining on bottom of tub. The pool and hot tub (indoors) were a bit worn (chipped cement) and the water didn't look all that clean. The ceramic tile surrounding the pool was grubby and made me feel like I was in a public swimming pool locker room. Was happy when I managed to get the kids out after only a short swim. Room service was prompt and food very good. The hotel was adequate for brief night at an airport hotel, but bathroom and pool cleanliness could be improved. Will probably try someplace else next time.

Picture paints a thousand words
Travelling Colin Apr 22, 2009
Hotel was booked for a number of events which meant all restaurants were closed for the duration of the stay. Staff seemed to ... be harried and not really the most helpful. Picture on the web site made it look like a modern Sheraton whereas it is probably out of the 80's or 90's and looked in need of a makeover.

Comfortable bed
Mark Dec 29, 2008
The Sherton Newark Airport Hotel was the perfect location for flying in, getting a rental car and finding the hotel. It was ... easy as pie! The room was cozy and overlooking the indoor pool was a great bonus. In the dead of winter it gave us the feeling of being at the beach. We arrived on a Sunday and did not know that the Bistro (the hotel's restaurant) is only open for lunch on Sundays...so after a 12 hour flight we were hungry and a bit disappointed to have to eat in the bar. We chose this hotel for the indoor pool and Hot tub and were disappointed when the hot tub was having some issues. The staff wasn't too helpful when they were notified. Overall, it was a great experience and we only stayed one night and wished we could have stayed two. The bed was one of the most comfortable we've stayed in.
