My husband and I enjoyed our stay here. The location was very convenient, you can walk to eateries and shops in five minutes. ... The room was small but very clean and the service was good. The only thing that we did not like was paying the $15 dollar a day parking fee. I had read other reviews that said you could park on the street but the street was full most of the time. I think they could charge less for the parking fee.

The decor was updated and nice but the studio room was tiny. We appreciated the option to have some food and snack storage ... with the mini-fridge and microwave, it came in handy when we just needed a little bite to eat. But we had ants in the bathroom constantly and saw a few cockroaches early in the morning. I did notify the desk and their reply was, "well, this is a tropical environment...". Yuck. Also, the $15 per day for parking was a little ridiculous.

Wonderful experience
romy from tokyo Sep 23, 2009
I stayed in Outrigger Aina Nalu for 2 nights in September. From a Japanese tourist point of view, the hotel was ... fantastic. The location was great; less than a 5 minute walk to the center of Lahaina, but also secluded and quiet surrounded by lots of trees. There weren't any restaurants within the hotel, but we had no problem walking a few blocks to eat out or buy things at stores. It was less than a 20 minute-drive to Kapalua airport and very easy to spot. We rented GPS navigation, but I think we could have managed without it. The hotel was nice and spacious, compared to a Japanese hotel experience, where we don't get a separate living room and bed room unless it's a suite class room. The room was equipped with a full kitchen and washing machine in the bath room, though we didn't use it because it was such a short stay. There were 2 pools (seawater and fresh water) and a Jacuzzi which were open until 10pm. Lots of beach chairs and sofas were a nice place to relax and take a nap. There was also a small vending machine beside the pool, but not so many choices. One problem we had was when we checked in. We got card keys to a room but they didn't work on the indicated room. It turned out that the room was occupied already, and we were fidgeting with the keys to a room with someone already in it. The couple in the room was nice enough to accompany us to the lobby, to explain the situation to the staff. It turned out that the staff had written the wrong floor on our card. They were really kind, and apologetic. And we got an upgrade so I guess it turned out ok. I thought that the layout of the facilities were a bit confusing at first until you get used to it. For example the pool towels were rented out from the house keeping "cottage", located in the opposite direction of the pools. The parking space was located right in front or our room, but to get there we had to drive all around the building to get there. I saw other reviews commenting that the parking fee was expensive, but for us, we thought it was more convenient and safer to have our car right in front of our room. Overall, we thought it was a very nice stay, and if we were to visit Maui again, we would definitely choose to stay here. I recommend this hotel to any type of travelers, especially those staying for an extended period.

I didn't like that I had to pay $15 a day to park our rental car in the complex. Our room was very small with very little ... lighting. Overall it was in a great location and we didn't spend alot of time in the room other than to sleep so it didn't matter much to us that it was small.

We recently stayed 7 days 6 nights in a one bedroom condo at Aina Nalu Outrigger and loved it. We actually booked a studio, ... but were given a complimentary upgrade to a one bedroom when we checked in -- certainly a pleasant surprised. The rooms are large, clean, and furnished with attractive, well-maintained furnishings. Housekeeping does a good job of slipping in quietly while you're out having fun, so that you can return to a clean room and well-made bed. The location of the hotel is great. It's within walking distance of a variety of restaurants, many galleries, souvenir shops, some historic buildings and the ocean. Because the rooms include a full kitchen, you can save lots of money on food (dining out is expensive on Maui) by picking up basic groceries at the nearby grocery store. When we stayed at Aina Nalu, we were given a $50 gift card with which to buy groceries. (This made up for the absence of a free breakfast like some hotels offer.) They also have a friendly, knowledgeable "Local Expert" on site who can help you plan activities and purchase tickets without having to leave the condo to track down all the info yourself. The Local Expert does not add a surcharge to your ticket purchases. What's bad about this condo community? If you're the kind of traveler who wants a luxurious hotel that offers posh interiors and numerous staff who can cater to your every whim, then the Aina Nalu is not the place for you. Business travelers will be disappointed that there is not a business center, but then what business traveler would stay at a condo community instead of a hotel that targets business travelers? Limited room service is available, but the food comes from Lahaina Coolers, a restaurant around the corner. There is no gym on site, but there are two pools, and guests can get discounted day passes to a local gym (we did not do this during our stay). There is a $15/day parking fee if you park in the hotel lot, but we observed that hardly any guests were using the parking lot because of it. Two years ago, we visited Oahu in Hawaii. While we enjoyed the trip in Oahu, we liked our Maui trip better partly because of the good experience we had at Outrigger Aina Nalu. The Maui island is indeed beautiful. If you can, try driving to Hana (a rural area on the east side of the island) and to the peak of Haleakala crater at 10,023 feet above sea level.

Nicely decorated rooms, spacious, lush grounds, 1 block to Front Street and Wharf Cinema Center (across from the Banyan ... Tree). Didn't really need to drive much once we arrived. Walking distance to beach, harbor, shops and grocery store. Free WIFI was available in our room, although not advertised that way.Buildings look older from the outside, but well kept up, the inside you couldn't tell that it was not a brand new facility. We had the 2 bedroom 2 bath, 2nd floor away from the highway. Not as close to the pool, but much quieter. Never heard the neighbors at all.

Glen, 1st time in Maui Jul 7, 2009
We had reserved a suite but when we got there, they upgraded us to a one bedroom at no extra cost. It was on the second floor ... next to the main hwy and the road traffic was a bit noisy, but it wasn't like we were going to stay all day in the room. The kitchen was fully furnished (even a blender), the bathroom was large and newly tiled. Except for one day getting short on towels, it was a great experience. $15.00 a day for parking is a bit much.
