The hotel is very nice but what they dont tell you is you have to let them park your car for you and thats an extra $22 a day ... then you have to tip the guys who park it and get it for you. If you have an outside room it really loud. The traffic is going all night long and the walls are thin so if someone comes in at 4 am (like when we were there) you hear their every word.

Thanksgiving weekend

Would recommend to a friend!

We have stayed at this hotel twice in the last two years. Both times we had a great time! The staff there is quick and ... responsive to any needs you have. The rooms are simple and clean. They do charge you for extras but at their reasonable rates that is just fine! When I needed anything, they were quick to respond. The gym was nice. The hours of the pool are a little bit of a pain (weekdays 6-10 and 4-10 at night...weekends all day till 10 PM.) The only complaint we had was the service at the restaurant but management was quick to make sure we were taken care of. Overall a wonderful experience for my family.

Nice digs!

Westin-Arlington is a newer hotel with great amenities. Workout facility and pool top notch. Short walk to restaraunts and ... shopping was a nice plus (PF Chang's, Rock Bottom, Union Jack's, etc. plus a 3 story indoor mall). Hotel also has nice bar and restaraunt. Only complaint was that on check out I was charged for two nights parking that I did not use - bill was adjusted immediately.

Excellent service and value

We were visiting Washington DC as tourists. Although in Arlington, the metro was only 5 minutes walk and then 20 mins to ... Central Washington. Modern, clean and efficient hotel with friendly service. Good restaurant with various restaurants nearby (PF Changs opposite). We loved Washington DC and found everyone friendly and helpful and would recommend it for a 4/5 day break. Easy to get around with lots of good eating places around to suit all pockets. Be prepared to walk a bit to get around. We enjoyed that part. Also get a 2 day bus ti

Modern, stylish, can be pricey

L.G. Oct 27, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

[...] Full price can be very high, though apparently the hotel offers very good last-minute deals, too. So, all in all I ... think the hotel offers good value.Pluses: very clean; very nice, modern design; nice bed, linens, towels, toiletries; helpful, professional staff; walking distance to metro station; it was also in walking distance from where I had go for business.Minuses: 1) noise: the hotel faces an important intersection, and street noise (especially police and fire) can be heard even from upper floors; there is a big construction site on one side of the hotel -- this could be another source of noise, but on the Sunday night I was there there was no activity (the project has just started, so it will probably go on for another year or so). 2) pricey small conveniences: every little thing costs a lot; for example, the half-liter bottle of water in the room was $5; I didn't even check the minibar; if you want to use the computer in the business center, it's $5 for 30 mins (I think); they charge for wireless or ethernet in the room (I know most full-service expensive hotels charge for internet, but I still think this is an anachronism, and would never pay for it unless I really have to). I have not dined in their restaurant (Pinzimini), though their menu looked good. While the area is not quite bustling with fine dining choices in walking distance, there are places one can go to. I had dinner at PF Chang's China Bistro, right in front of the hotel, and I really enjoyed it. There seem to be lots of good choices for breakfast and lunch nearby.Bottom line: I wouldn't pay full price, but if I had to stay in the area and found a good price, I would definitely consider staying here again. I would, however, ask for a room on the other side from the street. In my book it's not worth 5 stars, but I'd give it 4.5 if I could.

This was my first trip to the DC area, I was there to do all the "touristy" stuff and also visit friends in Maryland and ... Virginia. The hotel is in a great location, close to metro, great restaurants, bars, mall, bus, etc. I loved the hospitality of the hotel staff. I'm absolutely in love with the heavenly bed and shower. Awesome room and great bath with the most amazing toiletries and mirror... Will definitely stay there again, and again.

Hotel and staff were very efficient. I was there for a burial at Arlington, so the location was great. The hotel is in ... walking distance to many interesting places to eat. Vending machines (for soda, etc) should be added to each floor by ice machines. Starbucks in the lobby closes at 7pm, which I thought was a little early. The staff were very helpful and courteous. The rooms are nice and very clean, but you can tell that the most expense is in the atmosphere. There is always someone ... there to assist you with anything. Having a young child, the staff was super friendly and really made my little boy feel special unlike some hotels where the staff pretends to not see the child.

Nice Hotel

Unknown Sep 11, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

When we first checked in we were amazed at how beautiful it was. The lady that checked us in had a very cold personality and ... kind of gave us the cold shoulder. We got a room on the 12th floor with a great view. When the porter opened the door we were flooded with paint fumes. It was so bad that within a few minutes we all had headaches. We went downstairs to request a new room and the young guy that was at the front desk acted like we really put him out and wasn't sympathetic at all. Our bags were still in the original room and we told him that we needed our stuff. He said that "if" someone was around he'd send them. In the mean time he re-programed the keys from our old room to our new room so we couldn't access our stuff if we wanted too. We went back up to the 12th floor and found someone that worked on the floor and they let us in. He told us that they were staining the furniture a few floors down and the smell was traveling. I can't believe that they would put is in that room knowing that. Once we got to our final room it had zero fumes and was wonderful. Like others have said the parking is $22 a day but the mall is one block away and during the week it's a maximum charge of $8 for up to 24 hours and only $1 on the weekend. The metro is about 2 blocks away and very convenient. We tried the pool once and was disappointed because it was too cold to even get into. It also was very cloudy??? The room was beautiful and very comfortable.

We tried the pizza restaurant around the corner under the hotel (across from the mall) called Vapiano. It was DELICIOUS. It is as close to authentic Sicilian food as you can get (we moved from Sicily one year ago). The prices are pretty reasonable and everything we tried was perfectly done. One day we decided to go to the zoo and drove instead of taking the metro which was a big MISTAKE. Parking was $20 per car but the zoo was free. The metro was only about 2 blocks away from the zoo and what I'll take next time.

Everything was quite enjoyable. At times, I did notice there werent enough people working the check-in desk so I had to wait ... a bit. Other then that, it was a great stay. Tons of places to eat close by. Starbucks inside the hotel was great. Metro station a mere 5 minute walk from the hotel. The ride from the Metro station to the DC area (Smithsonian stop) was about a 15 minute ride. Overall, It was a great place and would stay again if visiting the DC or surrounding area.

10 minutes walk to the metro station. Room was very clean, modern bath room but one of the dual shower head was deficient and ... was not repaired despite our claim. Otherwise super clean, modern, all up to date and having a Starbuck place connected to the lobby helps to start the day. No parking around the hotel...you have to use the valet parking of the Westin at a $22.00 charge per day (this should have been mentioned in the hotel info) Best beds equal to those you'd find at Sofitel

Nice Place in Ballston

Cranfordgirl Jun 14, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

This location is great--it's adjacent to the Ballston mall and metro and there are a number of places to eat in the immediate ... vicinity. The hotel is new and stylish and I got a GREAT deal on the nightly rate. I have stayed at the Holiday Inn which is close by for a similar rate, and it is not nearly as nice. The room I was given was stylishly decorated and had nice amenities--comfortable bedding, double-head shower, mini-bar, etc. The one drawback was that I was right next to the ice machine--which was extremely noisy! The hotel also has a decent pool and workout room, although the jacuzzi was out of order when I was there.

Rio Grande, a decent Tex Mex place, is just a couple of blocks away. Try the margaritas and beef fajitas or carne asada.

Great Location....Great Getaway

Miss Rich Jun 8, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

I loved that this hotel was a short walk away from the metro, shops, and dining areas. We arrived early and they let us do an ... early check-in which was greatly appreciated. I loved the huge king sized bed (which was very comfortable) The pool was not as big as I thought it would be but my fiance and I still had a relaxing time in the pool. Overall it a great experience, and the staff always had a smile on their faces. I would definitely stay again when we want a quiet getaway =)

PF Changs chinese restaurant opposite the hotel. Good value and makes a change after a long day out. Cosi's next to the metro (5 mins walk) Good value for breakfast on the way to Washington.

The Mall is not worth the walk. Many stores are vacant.

--Missy, Port St Lucie, FL Oct 20, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

There is a mall with a food area in it about two blocks from the hotel walking back toward the Metro Station. It has 2 restaurants that we really enjoyed (Chevey's Fresh Mex and Noodles).

--tbwhidden, Tennessee Oct 19, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

PF Changs across the street, great food.

--Woman Travelor, Pensacola, FL Oct 14, 2009

Dining tip, Short Walk

We tried the pizza restaurant around the corner under the hotel (across from the mall) called Vapiano. It was DELICIOUS. It is as close to authentic Sicilian food as you can get (we moved from Sicily one year ago). The prices are pretty reasonable and everything we tried was perfectly done. One day we decided to go to the zoo and drove instead of taking the metro which was a big MISTAKE. Parking was $20 per car but the zoo was free. The metro was only about 2 blocks away from the zoo and what I'll take next time.

Recreation/Attractions tip

Take the Metro- Dont drive into DC. The metro will leave you smack in the middle of all the main attractions: Lincoln Memorial, Capital building, Washington Monument.
