Awesome Spa Location...in a Cave!
tallyho Nov 17, 2009
The room was well appointed and comfortable. Really liked the french doors out to the balcony, although we had a view of ... the construction site. We discovered the best rooms are with a view of their spa/winery cave and vineyard. Next time I hope to take advantage of the service and ambience at the spa. Overall, the staff was friendly and very helpful.

A wonderful stay
Becky Sep 15, 2009
We had a great experience at the Meritage. The hotel employees were wonderful. The hotel provides a free shuttle into town, ... and the concierge not only called the shuttle for us, but she called into town, made us reservations at a restaurant, and asked that the restaurant stay open late for us to have dinner. We had excellent service, and we really enjoyed the free DVDs at the front desk.

I travel to Napa Valley every year and every year I stay at the Meritage Resort and Spa. Not only is it top of the line ... classy, the rooms are nice, the food is excellent the service is superb and the spa ranks top of the line along with Burke Williams. The Meritage is definitely a honeymoon or couples or even a friend retreat and well worth every penny. I highly recommend this resort to anyone.

great getaway
Walkiria Aug 10, 2008
The Meritage Hotel was such a nice experience. Although it was a bit far away from Main street shopping (20 min), the Spa ... made up for it. Another treat was the Trinitas wine tasting on site. For the price, the wines were impressive, particularly the pinot noir. Needless to say my husband and I took a piece of the Maritage home with us as we joined the wine club. Lastly, their eatery was just fabulous. the service was a bit slow but well worth the wait. the food was definately delicious.

Awesome for after hours entertaining
Jonathan Feb 17, 2008
Recently on valentines day weekend i stayed at this particular hotel. I checked in around 12am and staff took about 15 ... minutes to get someone to man than the counter to get me my room. The room we recieved was quiet and well located with a terrible view of the back of the property and mainly the roof. We had one window and no decorations on the wall. The shower had strange and didn't have a tub or any raised ledge to stop water from running all over the bathroom floor. Repeatedly my fiancee found her electrical cords wet in puddles of water while i was showering and she was getting ready. The bed was alright and borderline too soft and the room was dimly lit. The hotel wasn't all bad though. The concierge was very friendly and helpful accomadation when dealing with restaurants and things to do locally. The best part about this hotel is that there are ample areas to sit and relax with larger parties after dinner for a few drinks. Complementary bottles of wine are available your room (included in a $15 resort fee), and wine is also available at the gift shop all hours of the day. The hotel bar is great and wait staff was very friendly. Me and my partner were primarily in the room to sleep and didn't spend time in their doing a whole lot else so it wasn't that big of an inconvienance. I wouldn't stay here again based on my experience last time, but if you are looking for a hotel that is overpriced and advertised accomadations are not available than this is the place for you. Great locations though just south of all of the vineyards in Napa Valley.

Luxury and comfort
John Sep 10, 2007
The Meritage was a wonderful hotel. The amentities appeared to be beautiful and luxurious, unfortunately since we decided to ... take a balloon ride early in the morning and we were only there for one night we didn't get to take full advantage of them. The hotel was new and very beautiful. The rooms were very luxurious and had a wonderful view of new vineyards. The bed was to sleep for! We had to wake up early, but we didn't want to get out of bed! Overall we were very pleased with the hotel. We'll have to go back to visit the spa in the cave when we have some more time.

Very good value and nice location
Valentin Aug 9, 2007
The wine, soda and bottled water in the mini-fridge were a nice welcome. It would have been nice to have a microwave. ... Although located in an industrial complex, you would not know it since it is away from it. Our room had a view of the nice large pool and the vineyard. It was big and so was the bathroom. Nice digital flatscreen TV. It is convenient to the city of Napa where you had a choice of reasonable and expensive restaurants. We took the scenic Silverado Trail which is nearby to visit several wonderful vineyards.

Location

The Meritage is a large hotel. The rooms were well appointed, but the sunlight came in brightly and the drapes did not close ... completely. We were given a room with a view of the HVAC system and all the associated noise. At check in, the Consierge tried to sell us a membership to their vacation package. We didn't appreciate being hustled to buy a package when we didn't expect it. The location is in an industrial park, you had to drive everywhere. I thought the location, the size of the hotel and the noise in the room did not warrant such a high price for the room.

Still working out the kinks
Hilary Jul 15, 2007
The Meritage is a new hotel and clearly still working out the kinks. The hotel property itself is very beautiful, and the ... rooms are generally nice. The elevators, however, took FOREVER and the walk to the rooms was long and maze-like. My parents were upgraded to a beautiful suite. However, my room had damp carpet and was stuffy when I first arrive and I had to be changed to a different room. Housekeeping and the front desk were inconsistent in responding to requests. I received a hair dryer immediately, but had to request a functional coffee maker five times over the course of two days before receiving one. Also, the front desk was occasionally impossible to reach by phone from the room. This hotel is way to expensive for such missteps.

Needs More Employees and Friendlier Service
Dana Jun 26, 2007
From the moment we arrived I knew I had made a mistake in selecting this hotel. No-one greeted us, the woman at the front ... desk didn't look up until I approached her. The small trash can in front was overflowing and no-one was manning the bellman's desk. We moved the rolling rack to our car and loaded .it ourselves. No-one intervened from the hotel to offer to help. The business center had two computers. One had an out of order sign on it for two days. The towels from the previous days pool users were still wadded up on the chairs the next moring at 11:00am. We had a small dog (the reason I selected this hotel). It was 95 degrees outside at 12:00 and they didn't want to give us a room (despite the fact that they had one) until 4:00pm, check-in time. In three days we never saw a manager or anyone who inquired about our stay. This is very unusual for a new hotel. When we checked out, we again retrieved our own rolling rack and loaded it and unloaded it ourselves. Unbelievable! We hated it.

Work in Progress
James May 6, 2007
This is a very nice hotel that has everything going for it, good location, friendly staff, etc. Unfortumately, they still ... have some kinks to work out on their housekeeping and check in process. We arrived at 2pm because we planned to check in before attending a wedding at 5pm. We were told that housekeeping had not finished our room, but it would be ready by the guaranteed check in of 4pm, probably sooner. The front desk clerk checked us in, and told us they would call us on our cell when ready. No call came, and when we checked back in at 4pm at the desk, it was clear the room had been ready for awhile, but no call was made. As a consequence, we ended up being 45 minutes late for the wedding. As we left the hotel at 5pm, housekeeping was still working on rooms.

The Meritage was a nice, new resort w/ a beautiful clean, comfortable room. The bathroom was large and all the products were ... above average. The hotel staff was friendly & helpful. The room service was excellent, if not alittle expensive. Given the location, it was probably appropriate. I would highly recommend this hotel to any business traveller!
