We just stayed one night after a day at Universal so there wasn't really time to do any of the activities. My only ... disappointment was my son was looking forward to the fitness center, since it was supposed to be open in the evening, but turns out you have to be 16, according to the all the paperwork they gave us. Granted, we did not show up and try to see if they would make an exception (he is 15), after reading that requirement and the NO EXCEPTIONS after it. I just don't recall reading the age restriction before making reservation, and seems like they pushed the fitness center as a great thing. However, the room was comfortable and very clean; place was quiet, and the price was good. Couldn't get the bathtub to fill up to try the whirlpool -- looks like the drain seal was not tight -- so just gave up on that -- but that was an extra anyway. Overall, a good experience.

Very knowledgeable and friendly staff in an impressive beautifully landscaped setting away from the Kissimmee strip. The ... suite was spacious although the bedroom was a little tight with 2 double beds, and the lighting was no really adequate with only 2 reading lamps. In the kitchen area was only one lamp. Otherwise the room was very nice. The air wasn't working and this was fixed quickly. The walls were very thin and we could hear every word spoken in the unit next to us.

Hotel was on busy strip, but set back from main drag and gated, which was very nice. SuperTarget was close by, which made ... for easy stocking of refrigerator. Rooms were clean, though a little outdated with pink walls, flower upholstery, glass table, and mirror around bed. We traveled with 2 small boys, and room had all we needed. Full kitchen was great. Pool was good. Spent most of time at theme parks so didn't get a chance to take in any other amenities at hotel site - which appeared nice. Good access to Disney. I would definitely stay there again, and would recommend to others.

We went to Universal Studios, Seaworld, and we did a little shopping at one of the outlet malls conveniently located near our ... hotel. Everything was 20 miles or less away. The resort was beautiful and everyone was very nice. I am very picky when it comes to hotels and this definitely passed. Our room was amazing for the price and we will definitely be staying there whenever we visit Orlando.

The Perfect Vacation
Sha Sha Oct 19, 2009
My fiance and I had an excellent time at the Resort. We stayed in the one bedroom and was very impressed how gorgeous the ... room looked. No need to bring anything to the room (except for food), becuase the resort provides everything inside your room. The one bedroom had a jucuzzi for 2 people, a full size kitchen provided with all the dishes (including pots, pans, silverware, etc), full size refrigerator, microwave, stove, dishwasher, broom, dustpan, and mop. It even had a washer and dryer in the unit. The room also had a balcony with a lakeview (lighted at night) which was very romantic. TGIF is located on the premises. The location was excellent because it was just minutes away from the outlets, Universal Studios, and Disney world. The resort also has daily activities that you can enjoy. No need to go anywhere becuase you will have a great time just staying at the resort. My fiance and I are definitely going again next month!

This is A Great Place to stay. As soon as we checked in my girls came running out of the bathroom in the lobby to tell me ... how awesome it was. The Rest room is a locker room with a hot tub and very clean and pretty. Room was very clean comfortable. Karoke and Magic show and grill out was great on Friday night. The pool was fabulous. Great place to stay close to everything. Would definetly stay her again.

Wonderful Vacation
Suzy Q Sep 15, 2009
My family loved our vacation at Star Island Resort. It was very convenient to everything. Several eating places. Very clean ... rooms. So many activities to do there that you really do not need to leave to go anywhere else. While staying there, our children wanted to end our Disney Park visits so that they could get back to the resort 2 pools that they loved. It really was something there for the whole family. We saved alot of money with our visits to the super walmart and outlet stores. I am definitely returning to the resort and I plan to bring my whole family. It is so beautiful at night. the owner's of this resort did not spare any cost 5 star all the way. The only thing that I did not like was the fact they had no life vest for the paddle boats, but we had a blast anyway. We felt like we took a vacation.

Be sure to request an updated room, if you get one you will like it. With a little one, the full kitchen is great, large ... family room for him to spread out and play. It was very comfortable, staff was very helpful and friendly and I would come back. The only thing you might not like is on Friday night they did kareoke (sp) and it was loud as if you were there. Baby woke up once from it but I enjoyed it and wasn't really a problem....

Disappointed stay Aug 19, 2009
Very disappointed stay! The decor in room needs updating, bathroom needs better cleaning and has mildew; no room service at ... all (no towels or toiletries after the initial set, cheap towels and linens, fuzz on bedspread; very noisy at night when they were playing loud music at the club on premise till midnight. The exterior grounds look nice but inside of the room looks like a cheap motel. Will definitely not stay there again.

Awesome Getaway
Sexylexy Aug 17, 2009
We chose this hotel after vacationing at Disney World in order to visit Universal Studios. When we first arrived, we stayed ... in one area that had kids running up and down on the first floor near the ice machine at 1 am in the morning. However, we were transferred to another room. We were worried that we might be near the pool (the noise and the music playing by the dj late at night) but luckily we were in another location that was quiet and kinda secluded. We had a wonderful time. Our hotel room was really nice and we were very pleased. The master bedroom and the jet bath was awesome. My kids enjoyed the pools also.

If you plan to visit Universal Studios when vacationing to Disney World, visit Universal Studios first. That way you won't be let down or disappointed with it. We visited Disney World first and then Universal Studios. I have a 14 yr old and 11 yr old, both girls. We visited Disney World for 8 days and then had a week's pass to Universal Studios. At Disney, the employees truly make it magical!! The staff has enthusiasm and respect for it's guests. It's complete opposite at Universal Studios. We did the meal plans at both D.W and U.S. At U.S. when my girls needed a drink or were hungry, the employees were very rude and didn't care to interact with you. When my girls said thank you, the staff would hand them their drinks or food and look away, never replying or nodding their heads--NOTHING!!! I told them they had to still keep their manners. After the 2nd day of this, my girls no longer wanted to go to Universal Studios (we had a week's pass). The remainder of the week, we went to Downtown Disney instead. Going to Disney World first and having that superior experience and then going to Universal Studios and experiencing employees who are just there for a paycheck will definitely ruin your trip.

Nice place, but a bit dated...
JDC Aug 13, 2009
The rooms were very nice (and clean) and well appointed. But, they were a bit 90s. The TVs were all old fashioned. The ... front desk staff was clueless, although I did appreciate the security guards coming quickly to get us out of the elevator we got stuck in. It looks like a big apartment complex rather than a resort, but the rooms are pretty nice. All in all I'm not disappointed, I think it was a good value for the money, but I have stayed in nicer and more modern places. I give it a 3 out of 5.
