Victorian architecture meets contemporary charm at Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa; located in artistic community of Sausalito Casa Madrona draws from both the towns history and its modern Mediterranean feel. Unlike traditional hotels Casa Madrona has two distinct personalities; each completely unique. The historical side includes the Victorian House built in the 1800's as well as various casitas and cottages sprinkled throughout the hillside each with their own individual decor. The contemporary side built in 2001 houses a more modern feel with four poster beds and bathrooms with soaking tubs. Many of the rooms have views of the bay and local harbor. While staying at Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa explore downtown Sausalito with its various restaurants, shopping and art galleries or enjoy a serene walk along the bay with the San Francisco skyline as your backdrop. Looking for a bit of relaxation? Choose from a selection of tranquil spa treatments to savor at The Spa at Casa Madrona.

Hidden Charges
Expensive Get Away Nov 4, 2009
Upon entering the hotel room we saw that there were 2 large Fiji water bottles on the dresser in the room. We thought they ... were complimentary as no sign was posted in front of the bottles. Also, there was a coffee maker in the room with a packet of instant coffee and apparently that was not free either and again, no sign was posted. I think this is deceptive business practices and we found out today that we were charged for all items mentioned above. We were planning on returning to the hotel next year and live in the Bay Area, but have changed our minds and will not recommend this property to anyone on account of their inappropriate business practices. Even when we checked out they said we had no charges.

Good Location
traveler Oct 27, 2009
We stayed overnight in Sausalito after watching a musical show in San Francisco. The location was perfect, a short commute ... from the city. Furthermore, the location is ideal for a goodnight's rest as sausalito shuts down into quiet town at night versus bustling downtown san francisco. Besides the location, our king size bed was super comfortable and the room was clean. My only complaint is that the high price of the room did not include parking. If you do not want valet during check in hours and are not lucky enough to find street parking, you have no choice but to park in a timed parking lot.

The hotel is centralized and the services requested (meal reservations, maps) were superior. The hotel could have offered ... upgrades since there was a lot of vacancies -None offered. Pricey because of location, not because of quality. The hotel was recently remodeled and our room reflected many oddities (Lay out of new appliances did not fit space available). Water temp set at luke warm.

Fern Sep 20, 2009
Very overpriced for the service you receive. Additional $24.00 a night for parking. Issues with hot water. The ... bachelorette party next door was so loud they had to move us to a new room. The rooms were OK, nothing spectacular. Small. Make sure you stay in the newer part as the older part is not as nice although less expensive.

Comfortable, but needs a face-lift
felipe95 Aug 31, 2009
Had a lovely time at Casa Madrona. The room was comfortable and spotless, but the decor had been set up when Ronald Reagan ... still roamed the Californian Earth. Staff was noisy at times, and spotty in fixing rooms to the same standard every day. On balance good, but needs more spit and polish and updating. Heard other guests complain of access to the upper floor rooms.

It was truly perfect! The staff was amazing, from the moment we pulled up until the moment we checked out. They accomodated ... us to an upgrade just because it was available. Absolutely a beautiful room, view and balcony. We walked to so many places, restaurants, the bay, stores, music at the park across the street, farmers market. Just wish we could have stayed longer!!

The casa madrona in sausalito has the perfect location for a quiet bay area getaway! The grounds are comfortable and scenic. ... The staff was very helpful and courteous to our needs. A short trip into San fracisco over the golden gate bidge, very scenic. We attended a baseball game in San francisco but wanted to wake up in a quiet marina town, the casa madrona was the perfect place! Mother-Daughter Spa Weekend
Mom Aug 2, 2009
We really liked our room, it was furnished with antique furniture and had a bay window and small deck with an incredible view ... of the harbor. We walked spent time in the spa, great treatment, and ate at some great restaurants. The weather was great. I could go on and on. There was only one problem with a noisy group coming in at 3:00AM! Luckily it only lasted a short time and we didn't have to call the front desk.
Traveler type: Family
Long walk or short drive to a restaurant that the locals eat at that a nail technician at the spa told us about. It is called "Fish" and only serves local fish available that day and organic local veggies. Casual, but great food!

Good room in fabulous location - overlooking bay in Suasalito. Sitting on balcony with a glass of wine. Poggia restaurant is ... a treat - like being in Europe, dining outside. Only negatives: Parking is additional $24 per day and there is not access to hotel computer. Does not provide newspaper as most do.

Great hotel. A+ room! Loved the patio!
lasloo Jun 20, 2009
Right of the main drag in Sausilito with easy walking access to all things that make up Sausilto! Downstairs is a nice ... restaurant, Poggio, where we had breakfast. Rooms are super nice and clean. I loved the patio. Rooms are a bit small, but they were very nice and I was there to be out and about in Sausilito not live the hotel!! Great location! We had a room on the other side of the road, so the patio was pointing inward into the courtyard. But that was very nice too. Not much too complain about. We did have some slightly noisy neighbors, and they they were smoking a lot off the balcony and that would swift into our room. But you can't do too much about who is around you. The hotel itself was fine.

Be careful not to be last to check in!
TK Jun 19, 2009
Hotel is in great location! However, evening desk staff was unfiendly and not helpful. We were the last people to check in on ... our arrival (I assume) so were given the handicap accessable room which was significantly smaller than the regular room and no where near the room I paid for. The day desk satff were able to move us for our last/third night to a room closer to what was described and we were very pleased with it. I believe this hotel factors in the Orbitz price and does not give you the room you thought you purchased but a cheaper room. I would not stay again.
