Elegant but super noisey
Deb D Nov 20, 2009
The hotel has been beautifully remodeled - the rooms are tiny but adequate - the noise however is unending and horrific. The ... hotel is in the middle of the freeway on all sides - so the LA traffic noise never stops and is on a scale of 1-10 and 11. You cannot open a window and even with the windows closed you hear traffic all night - they supply earplugs - can you sleep wearing earplugs?? I would not stay there again. Also there was mold around the air conditioner unit that looked dangerous!

It was a very covenient location to the things that we were doing in LA, close to downtown and all of the highways. The ... staff was extremely friendly and very helpful. It is located right off of the 405 (great for location), but slightly noisy with the traffic, but just about anywhere in LA will have the noise from traffic.

Perfect location for my business trips
Desert Traveler Oct 2, 2009
I have stayed at the Hotel Angeleno several times while in town on business. It is one of my favorite options to seek out ... when booking my hotel. The beds are very comfortable, rooms are clean and well equiped and the staff is always helpfull and friendly. It is convenient to have such a wonderful restaurant on the premisis as well. However, I wish they would include a complementary continental breakfast with my reservations.

Great Location for the Price
Weary Traveller Sep 17, 2009
I had called the hotel asking for an early check in as I was arriving on a 5:15 a.m. flight. I was told to call the morning ... of my arrival, which I did. The clerk was initially most unaccomodating. He told me that they could hold my baggage but that I could not wait in the lobby as check-in was at 3:00 PM. He did however, assist me when upon arrival at 6:15 a.m., I told him that I was there for a wedding and managed to get me into a room. After that we found the staff most helpful. Although the pool is small, it has an almost South Beach feel to it. There is no lunch service only a small snack and coffee shop that was unmanned on many occasions. The beds are super comfortable. The best thing about the hotel is the convenient location.

THE GOOD AND BAD OF THIS HOTEL ****
RECOOPERATING LADY Sep 7, 2009
great location to get on the expressway. great courtesy van and drivers rides to close locations. i had brain surgery and ... don't live in the the state therefore was recovering for a week, being that said, it was very worthless YOUR restaurant, portions were not that great, priceS were EXTREMELY AND RIDICULOUS EXPENSIVE AND MENU WAS EXTREMELY LIMITED. My husband had to pay a cab to return back from to the hotel to bring breakfast on the mornings i couldn't accompany him. FORGET ABOUT THE CUTE GLITCY RESTAURANT WHERE IS WAS PRACTICALLY EMPTY AND THINK BUSINESS LIKE EVERYONE. Bring down the prices, more variety in food, and you will make money and guest won't have to leave the hotel, especially when YOU HAD A BRAIN SURGERY AND YOUR FORCED TO LEAVE EVERYDAY FROM YOUR ROOM BECAUSE THEIR ISN'T A RESTAURANT IN YOUR HOTEL! Everything else was acceptable.

Weekend in LA
SoCal Resident Sep 7, 2009
I booked this hotel for its location and close proximity to everywhere that was on my weekend list. In that respect, it was ... perfect. The hotel was nice, although the floor and room we were in was a little musty feeling to me. Also, we specifically requested a room that would be quiet--our door practically opened to the elevator and gave us insight to every guests' comings and goings. My husband loved the hotel and its decor. I loved the bed--very comfortable, with perfect pillows and a perfect comforter. I was unhappy with the valet service: we asked to leave the car out so we could put our bags upstairs so they didn't even move it. They gave us a service ticket and charged us for valet service for the night even though we didn't park with them when we returned for the night. The hotel refused to refund us the $20 for the night we didn't use their services. Overall, their parking/valet policy was a little vague. I don't mind the $20, so much as I didn't like the principle of how it was handled. Chances are, we'd go back. The errors were minor and we'll be more specific next time.

Great beds....smaller room than I'm used to I guess... bar upstairs is pretty pricey... close to the freeway, about 10 ... minutes from beach...worked out great. Valet's hustled but got backed up around 5ish with check in. Check in took a bit. No self parking...ya need to pony up the money for valet. Hint..call valet from room before heading downstairs and it will be there...if they answer. Staff was nice though. Only two elevators...might have to wait a bit for one going up or down.

Sue May 27, 2009
The beds and appointments were superior, however a valet parking feature was not readily apparent on booking. Some of the ... staff were abrupt. Our room was very noisy which can not be helped as the hotel is right on the freeway. The restaurant was excellent. We have had better experiences at other Joie de Vivre hotels!
