We really liked the Hyatt and would certainly go back. The location is perfect - tons of restaurants and little shops all ... along the main road. We at lunch at the hotel and it was great. The casino is small, but we went every night. They have a nice gym too. We asked to switch rooms the first night because we were next door to a very noisy group and they took care of it right away. All the comments about not being able to get a chair or hut only apply to High Season. We never had a problem and wouldn't get out to the beach until mid-morning. The only thing I didn't like was the glass bathroom doors.

Goods: The hotel is amazing and modern and cool. The location is perfect. Bads: We checked in for our honeymoon and other ... people were getting champagne when checking in but when we checked in the girl hardly cared that we were there for our honeymoon, she didn't offer champagne or an upgrade to our room not even a fruit plate or something. Which is not cool because usually you get a free upgrade or something when it comes to special events, Atlease you do with other hotels. The food is really expensive also theres no ethnic food. Everything is dominos, hard rock, mcdonalds. etc. Little things to know, there are alot of lizards and iguanas, everywhere you go.

Do the KUKUKANUKU, its a party bus. it was fun. Also, dont eat in the hotel because its expensive. leave the hotel and make a right. Next to the Sopranos bar, theres an italian place. That place is good. Do not eat at Amazonia, it was the worst meat i ever ate.

I have been to several carribean islands and this is definately on of our favorite locations and hotels. The staff was ... overly friendly. The food was delicious. There is not a whole lot to do on the island but if you want to relax and enjoy great restaurants this is the place to go. There is also great "night life". Awesome restaurants and entertainment at the bars within walking distance of the hyatt.

Fell in LOOOOVE with Aruba!
Mama to be Oct 5, 2009
The hotel is definitely something I would recommend. Very good location in Palm Beach, restaurant and shops are walking ... distance away. Something is always happening around the hotel. About 20 minutes by taxi away from the airport, but the island is small in general so it doesn't take long to get anywhere. Don't get me wrong, the hotel is great, but I expected it to be my GRAND. They have a beautiful garden with black swans, fish, and parrots, but it doesn't make up for the two small pools and a small beach area. We went in off-season (Sep 27- Oct 4th) so it wasn't so bad, but I can imagine it gets pretty packed during peak season. Also, the hotel is insanely expensive when it comes to beverages. Food is so so, we never had dinner at the hotel, but lunch menu was decently priced (compared to NY prices.) Breakfast was crazy expensive ($25 pp for buffet and if you do a la carte, it comes out to be the same if not more for less food.) But the beverages, I mean $6 for 1 liter water and $6 for tiny beer cans, that is just insane, even for my NY price range. Water cost more than soft drinks like Sprite, juice, and Ginger Ale. But you can just go 5 minutes way to a grocery store and get a liter of water for $2-$3 and stock up. You can request for an extra fridge in your room to keep things in. Also, breakfast can be $25 for 2 at Salt N Pepper, which is right across from the hotel and just as good!

There are great restaurants walking distance from the hotel, so there are also shops and mini marts to get snacks at. If you check out the daily newspaper, you can often find coupons to some of the more popular restaurants. They have two daily newspapers that are usually available in your hotel, if not on your floor, you can always ask the front desk.

Seeking Warmer Waters Oct 3, 2009
We spent most of our time at the beach. The sand was clean, the water was great and the staff was helpful and attentive. We ... enjoyed having good food and refreshing cocktails brought to our shaded lounge chairs. All staff members were polite and paid attention to what we were asking for. Three minor negative points: 1) The hotel gift shop's prices were exorbitant. We are accustomed to paying a premium at hotel gift shops, but this shop charged $27 for a spray bottle of sunscreen. 2) At checkout, there was a room charge of $90 incorrectly added to our bill. We had approx 30 room charges during our stay. An inattentive guest might not have caught this error. It took approx 15 minutes for the receipts to be manually verified and the charge to be removed. 3) The TV channel line-up did not include many major American networks and the picture was full of static in some instances. No ESPN, ESPN2 or ESPNNews.

Hyatt is the place to stay in Aruba!

Hyatt is in perfect location. Close to shops and dining. Right on Palm Beach. All tours/excursion booths are within 2 minute ... walk of the Hyatt or will pick you up at Hyatt (De Palm, Red Sail, Pelican, ABC). And the ARUBUS stop is right in front of the hotel. Most rooms have at least a partial ocean view. Very quiet. Super nice and helpful staff. Coral the concierge is the best -- super knowledgeable and nice. Grounds are immaculate and gorgeous. Lobby is breezy and beautiful. If we visit again, we will stay at the Hyatt again!

Two yummy places to dine in Aruba ... Taste of Belgium (try the clam chowder soup and vanilla-ice ice cream)and Screaming Eagle (try the lobster entree and creme brulee dessert). Don't bother with the highly rated Flying Fishbone -- food was mediocre and expensive, location was so-so, taxi there and back is $60+, also the uniqueness of being able to have your feet in the water while you eat your meal wears off after about 10 minutes. Then you just end up sitting under the hot sun for 2 hours waiting for the sun to set and when it does you can't even see it because it will be behind you. Whenever possible use the very convenient ARUBUS ($1.30 per person roundtrip) instead of TAXI (at least $20 to go anywhere) for transportation to save some money if you want to visit Arashi Beach (best snorkeling - water is clear and schools of fish close to shore at only 4 feet deep water near the rocks, perfect for small children) or to go shopping in Oranjestad (shop at stores along Main Street for the best deals on souveniers and clothing). Do book an 8-hour JEEP Safari tour with ABC TOURS to see all the sites on Aruba (Baby Beach, Fontein Caves, Natural Pool, Natural Bridge, Church of Alto Vista, California Lighthouse, Ruins, and the milliondollar homes near Arashi Beach). All the tourguides are super funny and nice. You get to snorkel at Baby Beach and the Natural Pool. Lunch and beverages are provided throughout the day ... also free pickup and dropoff at Hyatt ... all included in the price of the tour. We had a great time and if you book 7 days in advance you get a 10% discount off your tour. Hope this helps and have a great vacation in Aruba! We hope to be back there again soon!

Awesome Aruba!!!
First Time Aruba Fan Aug 14, 2009
The Hyatt is great. The only issue we had was at check-in, and after talking to other people we met over our vacation, this ... seemed a common theme. At first there was a very long line to check in. Once the hotel staff realized this, another worker did come out and offer to assist my husband and me. From that point on it was S-L-O-W. The computer systems were not working quickly and he searched every room before assigning us our room. No joke--20 minutes later--we had the keys to our room. We went to the room and were disappointed. The room did overlook the pool, but was not very high, so all we could see were palm tree leaves!!! Plus, we turned around and saw a big stain on the carpet. After the headache of checking in, we were not going to settle for this room. We went back down to the lobby and asked to speak to the manager--who happened to be the same man who checked us in!!! Who would have guessed??!! After another 20 minutes we were assigned a different room higher up which worked out much better. I was EXTREMELY frustrated by the check-in process. We chose the Hyatt after having great success in Hyatts on other locations, including Maui and Kauai. However, once the room situation got settled, the rest of the trip was AMAZING!!! This too seemed to be the common feeling of the people we met there. If you can get through the check in process, the rest is great!!! Unless you get a suite, the rooms are not huge, but they are updated. At first we thought the room was pretty small, but we quickly realized that we were not in our room very much!! We loved the pools and the fitness center and the concierge was very helpful. We booked all of our excursions once we got there and had no issues. We would definitely recommend the ABC Jeep Tour--and do the 8 hour trip! It's worth every penny!!

This hotel is super expensive to eat or buy anything from any shop or restaurant within it. Water is $6.00 per liter in the room and $7.00 per liter at the shops! There is a mini-market not to far from the hotel in a plaza area that has a Cinema theater. That mini-market sells water for $3.50 for 1.5 liter bottles and is relatively affordable on everything else.
