Excellent hotel - beware the extra fees
Business Traveler Dec 4, 2009
Was in LA on business - the hotel is nicely appointed and the staff is super friendly and helpful. I could have done without ... the $26 per day valet parking and $13 per day internet fees... which I don't understand because the Marriott Courtyard has free WiFi and parking and it's only a couple of miles away... If you do not need to park or use the internet, you can't beat this hotel for the value. The airline check in kiosk is great!

UP ALL NIGHT
Nic Oct 26, 2009
I had the most miserable and uncomfortable night I have ever spent in a hotel. The rooms in this Hotel are built around a ... courtyard that becomes a nightclub called Glow at night, nothing separates you from Glow so until two in the morning when they stop the music and the bar closes nobody could possibly sleep. The night that I was there Glow had probably around three hundred loud guests. When I asked for another room I was informed that none were available. Unless they will guarantee a room on the other side do yourself a favor and stay somewhere else .

Fantastic stay at reasonable rates
L & N J. Oct 23, 2009
We stayed here to attend our daughter's wedding (in a neighboring town). She lives closeby. The help is friendly, the rooms ... are attractive and clean, and the location is nearby to a myriad of shops and restaurants. This Marriott has a beautiful ambiance as you enter the lobby area, including a room highlighted by miniature fires. Also, the rooms contain safes for your valuables. We would recommend this hotel to others, as well as stay here again, ourselves.

Marriott Rooms Showing Age
Writerjeff Oct 22, 2009
The rooms here are starting to show their age. Seating is a bit of a problem. Instead of a small couch there is a chair with ... ottoman and a creaky desk chair. The service is excellent - fast, friendly and efficient.Food in the lounge was excellent. Breakfast in the restaurant was fine. The valet parking can get a bit pricey with an extended stay. The price through [...] was less than the price at the Courtyard, just a few blocks away so we went for the big enchilada. In retrospect I think we'll be back at the Courtyard which also has great service, good location and free parking.

We got there late in the morning and found out that they didn't give us a King bed like we requested (they claim I never ... requested it), but they got us a room with a king bed the next day. The room looked a bit outdated, but was allright. The balcony was barely wide enough to stand on. I'd say it's about 1.5 feet wide. When we checked out they randomly charged us $25.00/day for parking. There's no real choice to park your car, you have to either give to valet or else park in in the lot across the street. It would've been cheaper to park across the street though, and I didn't appreciate being forced to pay $25.00 day. I should be given the choice to self park or valet park.

Whe booking my trip, as soon as I find a marriot I'm done looking. The beds are fabulous but the Marina Del Ray had great ... location and provided many extra touches that made the stay better and actually made me feel looked after. The lure of LA and Venice beach also provided a very international experience as there were guests from everywhere in the world staying there.

Toodle loo Jul 26, 2009
The hotel is right on the marina and blocks from Venice Beach, as well as several great restaurants. Although we didn't go ... in, the pool and hot tub were decent sizes and in a relaxing courtyard. The staff was all very friendly, overall it is on the nice end of Marriotts. So why 3 stars? Three reasons: 1)they charge $26 for parking, 2) $12 for internet [I don't know why it is becoming so common place, but it seems ridiculous that hotels charging hundreds of dollars a night have to tack on an additional $38 for these basic amenities] and worst offense of all 3) the showers got cold after just a few minutes - taking a bath was out of the question.

Marina Del Ray Marriott
lrdorng Jul 12, 2009
Seeing that this hotel is in the Marina and has night time parties it is active on the weekends with 20's and up. It was ... quiet though in my room which face the Marina. The internet service was pretty bad - going in and out and it's not free in the rooms, $12.95 from 12 to 12, they charged me for 3 days, I was only there 2 and only used it one day - but the desk subtracted it all when I told them, very good. there is breakfast available as room service, unsure if any other meals served in rooms. A restaurant below, did not go to, a nice centrally located bar with great tenders, male & female, an A+ health center no one was ever in it and the best Life Fitness machines, free bikes to ride on 4 hour slots, free business center - again, the internet connection is really archaic, they have to fix this!!! Three PC's that are sloooooooow. Printers. A small salon that looked inviting, small clothing/snack shop-$50 shorts kind of thing, nice shorts. Valet parking @ $26 - a day! I only got charged for one day even though was there two, think the personnel feel guilty about it and give you a 'break'. Directly across the street is a huge parking lot that is free - park there, no questions asked. A really good location if your not traveling to the Valley, Pasadena, or Hollywood, cause the freeways? They get very congested on the weekend, the 405, the 110 and even the 101 gets slooow. But if your going to the beach, the local shops or eateries, Playa Del Ray, Venice, Santa Monica, Westwood, Beverly Hills or other local spots this is a great, quite, very clean, very professional young staff, young attitude kind of place - and the bed was one of the best I have ever slept in - I have spent thousands on mattresses for one bed so I have great ones to compare to.

Very active, classy, dress code night life - no vagabond day trippers here, this is a known spot that attracts the upper class party goers, dress for success at these get togethers - sandals and baggy shorts I think would be frowned on, not snooty just monied and enjoying it.
