Not five star
US Visitor Jan 29, 2010
This is at best a four star hotel, one that poses as a five star establishment. No complimentary water bottles in the room, ... room carpeting was worn out, bathroom lighting was inadequate. Worst of the issues for me was my passport being taken during check-in and out of sight for photocopying. No-no! I don't want my passport out of sight, ever.

not a good location this year due to all
female US business traveler Jan 25, 2010
Went for business to NDelhi. Construction due to Commonwealth games this year, the location is terrible. The hotel has good ... breakfast but lousy security. They called me for a wake up call at 5:30 am 'because someone came to the reception desk and gave them my room number". The day manager did not even apologize or face the issue. Also my key to the door did not work. The hotel does a good business for group travel therefore they do not care for individual female business travelers. I will stay away from it in the future.

Unlikely to stay there again

We had a really bad experience booking the Taj Mahal Tour through this hotel. We paid for our tour 3 weeks prior to its date, ... and at the time of booking we were led to believe that the fee covers our entire family of 3 people. However, on the date of the tour we were told that the booking was for only 1 person in our party. While we were willing to pay extra for the other 2 people, the person in charge said he had no room. He was totally callous and kept repeating that only person can go. When we wanted to cancel the entire tour, he refused to give us a refund. All this left me with a really bad taste in my mouth (despite the scrumptious buffets offered by the hotel restaurant and the graciousness of the other hotel employees). Based on my 3 week tour of India, I found that even the high end Indian businesses have a lot to learn about customer service, and until they do that, I plan to stay in Western-owned hotels during my future trips to India. While the decor was impressive, I would happily trade some of the luxury for the squeaky clean feeling I can get in a $100/night American motel.

The government run shops featuring handicrafts from all over India are a few blocks away from The Park Hotel. They are a bit pricey, but much of the merchandise is to die for. Be sure to bring your own bottled water to this hotel because they rip you off badly for the Evian they leave in your room.

Try going for restaurants in Connaught Place, a 5-10 minute ride by autorickshaw. The hotel restaurant is extremely expensive (other than breakfast, which is already paid for) - a small portion can easily run up to Rs 600 (about $12).

Excellent location in central Delhi
Traveling Californian Sep 4, 2009
I arrived late in the evening after a long day in Delhi. The receptionist apologized that the standard luxury rooms were all ... taken and gave us a free upgrade to the Presidential Suite! Woohoo, what an amazing room. Service was great, porter were polite and the whole thing was very affordable by North American / European standards.

Great place!
Repeat Customer May 26, 2009
Overall, a great place. My only negative experience came when I asked for a late check-out time because of an evening flight. ... The supervisor at the counter tried to charge me for an entire additional day despite hotel statements that they would allow a late check-out up to 6pm with no additional charge. I was finally able to negotiate a half-day additional charge but the experience left a bad taste in my mouth and I did not feel that the supervisor was dealing with me in good faith.

An oasis in the midst of Delhi
Global Traveler May 24, 2009
I arrived at 4am and the staff went out of their way to welcome me. The location is perfect --- near everything. FIRE ... restaurant is wonderful and the staff there catered to my every gastronomic desire. A great place for a great price, and the quiet ambience in the rooms made for a welcome respite when the heat and chaos of Delhi became too much.
