not impressed

We booked 3 months in advance and requested 2 adjoining rooms for us and our 6 kids. When we checked in, we were told that ... none were available till half way through our 9 day stay.They put the 8 of us in double beds, not queens like we asked for, and were led to believe we were getting when I called 2 days before we left to confirm our booking. The day that we were supposed to move to our adjoining room, I was sick with food poisoning from the Red Robin that's in the hotel, and we were told that there was a mistake, and we couldn't have an ajoining room unless we slept 3 people in the king sized bed. NOT my idea of a holiday, sleeping with an 11 yr old kid in the bed. It wasn't until my husband took over the discussion that we finally got some satisfaction, They moved us into a suite for the last 2 nights. The "free shuttle in 10 mile radius" only goes south by the way. And they forgot my husband and 4 of our kids at Disneyland, and when he called they said " oh sorry, we will come get you in 45 minutes, we have another group going to dinner" ( which was US) They did eventually come and get him right away, but by this point we were frustrated at always having to fight to be treated right, and I won't stay in a holiday inn again.

The hotel is getting a bit old and the layout of our room was bad. For example the bathroom door when open blocks entrance ... and exit in the room. The door for closet was off the track and hard to deal with.

There is an awesome Red Robbin on location that serves fantastic food and has a great bar to hang out in. Be aware though, the bar there and bars in surrounding area close at midnight due to some local ordinance.

Was in town for 3 nights and had a pleasant stay. Staff was friendly and got me checked in rather quickly. Convenient gift ... shop and Red Robin restaurant located in the hotel. They also had a fitness center, which was nice to be able to get in some cardio, although one of the two ellipticals was broken and seemed to have been for quite some time. Was located right off the highway and Elephant Bar was across the street also. Was about a half an hour away from everywhere I needed to go, but didn't mind the drive. Only problem was that the man at the front desk was slow in checking me out. Would stay there again if in the area.

I enjoyed the make your own waffles for breakfast. The Happy Hour was nice too. And I was happy for the Business Center, to ... get online to make a reservation that we needed to make before returning home. My only complaint is that the lady in the Lounge could've been friendlier.

The hotel and hotel staff were awesome! I was there for the weekend to see a soccer game at the Home Depot Center and was ... really impressed with both location and cleanliness of hotel. I would definitely stay here again!

We specific ask Orbitz a non-smoking room because we travel with a child, we get to hotel and they told us that orbitz ... requested a smoking room, also the front desk person say that for orbitz clients they just provided whatever is available because the rate is cheap and the people who pay full is the people who has priority and even we told the front desk person we travel with a child they did not care about and they did not do anything to help us to get a non-smoking room.

Our stay at Holiday Inn, La Mirada was sweet and sour. Positives: Great Location,Very Clean and Quite.Excellent house ... keeping staff and very safe with ample parking space. Wireless Internet connection was a plus. Need Improvement: Request for early check-in was not handled professionally, although the hotel was informed a day in advance. The Staff hesitated to oblige but when they were pressed that we talk to the manager, the room was made available then. Conclusion: The stay was pleasant, but the staff which is the face of the hotel needs work on their customer relationship.

Beware if Handicapped

The toilet had a 6 inch high rise toilet seat that was so tall your feet didn't touch the ground. A request for a shower ... chair was met with the reply that they did not have any. Difficulty with the toilet and the inability to get a shower make this a poor choice for disabled travelers.
