The dining was limited but very good and reasonable. The parking was the cheapest I have seen for an overnight. I plan to stay again with my kids to see the city.

Go to Century 21 located near Wall Street. Its a lot like TK Maxx but on a huge scale. You'll find some absolute bargains (especially with the pound doing pretty well at the mo) but be prepared to take your time looking around.

Recent stay at the Bentley
Recent stay Nov 16, 2009
The Bentley is located right next to an entrance to a major highway so if you stay -- stay on an upper floor because there ... isn't much sound-proofing. When it was originally decorated -- it was very funky but it is starting to look tired -- dirty baseboards, bad paint jobs, the gym only had three machines (out of 9) connected for power (the others didn't have cords)and 1 out of 3 didn't work. One out of 2 TVs in the gym had a remote. It was as if they just made a splash and then left nothing in the budget for maintenance.

No great deal
New York traveller Nov 14, 2009
Toilet was running and wouldn't flush properly, kept having to plunge. The walls were really thin, I could hear people in the ... next room perfectly. Hotel seemed really run down but with a slick facelift. It was noisy, staff was a little stingy (charging me to call the garage underneat to pick up my car)but they were pretty friendly and the heating/ac unit seemed like a relic (seriously old, buttons missing, painted over).

Nice but technologically challenged
Roadwarrior Dan Nov 13, 2009
Nice hotel with clean rooms and a modern feel. I had a good experience even though the water heater failed on the second day ... I was there. The staff fixed it quickly. The restaurant/bar on the roof has views but has a limited food selection. The internet service is horrible. I don't know if they are getting interference from somewhere else but I couldn't get past a 'poor' connection. It's good enough to read emails -- log on, go do something, read emails (gulp!). If you need a good connection or plan on working in your room -- this is not the right place for you.

Looks can be deceiving
Business Traveler Nov 6, 2009
PROS: Rooms were clean, and staff was friendly. CONS: Elevators were broken. The iron in my room leaked dirty water and ... stained one of my shirts. Some of the staff decided midnight would be a good time to vacuum the hall outside of my room, waking me up from a deep sleep. On my last day, something went wrong with the water, resulting in a dark brown sludge flowing from my faucet and preventing me from taking a shower. Upon checkout, they attempted to charge me for items from the minibar that I did not eat.

The Good, the bad and the ugly

This hotel could be one of the best, clean, reasonable price, quiet and good location. however, we stayed 5 nights and found ... the bathtub was not cleaned every day and we were given only one small soap for 5 days for two of us( we should've begged for it).there was no refrigerator in room and no vending machine for water or snack anywhere in the hotel other than over-priced items for sale in room.i noticed that doormen and concierge were all nice but we experienced a very disagreeable argument with one of the front clerk.her attitude and correspondence toward us was not only professional but rude.[...]

The hotel was very clean and we had a wonderful time. It wa easy getting a taxi to and from the hotel. My favorite event was ... seeing the Lion King. It was awesome, a must see if you are in New York. The staff was nice. The only negative was we didnt have any face towels in our room and the first night I had to call twice for housekeeping to bring them to the room. However when we requested ice, it was bought up in a timely manner.

Very good hotel
RajKan Sep 11, 2009
We stayed at the Bentley Hotel for 5 nights in total and really enjoyed it. The room was a very good size and kept extremely ... clean, the shower was not the best but not too important. Staff were very nice and extremely helpful. However, I was extremely surprised that the hotel did not provide free wireless ($15 day!), we took trip to Washington on the Boltbus (Highly recommended and extremely cheap!) and even that had free wireless! Location wise its not too bad, the hotel is located on the east side right near Roosevelt Island. The nearest metro is approx 8 - 10 mins walk we but did not mind that. We felt very safe walking around the area at night and the people were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend staying here, its not too expensive compared to other hotels in NY (If you can get a good deal) and was very clean and tidy.
