The Magic Castle Hotel is a former apartment building converted to a Hotel. It's a classic 1950's kinda' place that is simply ... very cool! The rooms were big and the staff was very helpful! We will definitely stay here again!

The hotel is a converted older apartment building and still has several of those dated elements (heating, some fixtures, some ... appliances) But they have brought the furniture, and style up to date. But what they lack in decor they more then make up for in amazing customer service. Not only are all the staff friendly, helpful, and approachable but they offer free snacks, sodas, movies all day. The well heated pool is open 24 hours. It is located right behind Hollywood/Highland and next to the Magic Castle, a private club which the hotel can get you reservations at as a guest. Rooms are huge full full kitchens and nice linens. Great for overnight or a week. Highly recommended!

Can't-beat-rate with great amenities!

It was fantastic to be within a few hundred feet of the main purpose for our trip - the Magic Castle Club where you go in the ... evening for your dinner and the magic shows. I think that the hotel used to be an apartment complex, because the "suite" was basically a one-bedroom apartment - living room, adjacent dining area, FULL kitchen as opposed to kitchenette, full bath (tub plus shower) and bedroom. The building is a little on the older side and the decor ho-hum, but the furniture was very nice, clean, and the bedding/linens were SUPERB (and I'm a frequent hotel guest and quite picky about bedding!) The best part about the experience was the excellent customer service, and the "extras" were unlike any I've experienced at even very high-end Vegas resorts. Upon check in you are greeted with champagne and a (long) list of the COMPLIMENTARY mini-bar items (a non-sequitur in the hotel world if I ever heard one). Meaning, whatever snacks or (non-alcoholic) drinks you might want were yours for the asking. When it came time to leave the hotel for the club - a mere 1000 yards a way perhaps - we were given a "shuttle" ride by one of the employees because it was obvious I am not used to wearing very high heels and the driveways are a little hilly! Complimentary breakfast in the a.m includes great pastries, breakfast breads, cereal, juice, coffee with all the extras, yogurt, etc. and all of great quality. Add in free WiFi, comfy bathrobes, nice bath products and excellent air conditioning and this is a deal that can't be beat!

FIRST IT'S AN OLD GARDEN STYLE APARTMENT THAT WAS CONVERTED TO A HOTEL....LOTS OF DETAILS LEFT OUT IN THE CONVERSION, POOR ... WORKMANSHIP, LOOKS OLD AND WORN OUT. FIRST ROOM THE A/C DIDN'T WORK, SO WE WERE UPGRADED (THAT WAS NICE. NEW ROOM WAS MINI-SUITE, WITH SOME OLDER BUTCHER BLOCK STUFF IN THE KITCHENETTE, BUT HERE'S THE FUNNY PART. THEY DO NOT HAVE CENTRAL AIR, OMLY TWO WINDOW UNITS. THEY DO HAVE CENTRAL HEAT THOUGH. WHEN WE USED THE A/C UNITS, IT WOULD COOL OFF THE ROOM AND MAKE THE HEATER KICK IN. SO, WE HAD BOTH THE HEATER AND A/C GOING AT THE SAME TIME WITH NO WAY TO SHUT OFF THE HEAT. BEING IT WAS AN OLD APARTMENT, THE COILS WERE FULL OF DUST AND STUNK UP THE ROOM WITH A BURNT SMELL. I THINK THEY ARE TRYING TO MAKE IT NICER, BUT THEY HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO.

LA/Hollywood Noobie Jun 11, 2009
We picked this hotel for two reasons...location close to Hollywood Blvd and reviews we read about how good the staff was at ... the hotel. I have never stayed at a hotel where the staff was this nice and helpful. They drove us up to the Japanese restaurant, drew maps of the best bars and clubs to go to to see celebs and people watch, brought us food and snacks whenever we wanted, always had a smile and kind thing to say...just outstanding service.

Great location and service
Allison Jun 2, 2009
Great location--just one square block from Hollywood and Highland, within walking distance of a lot, and close by public ... transportation (subway and bus) to places that are too far to walk. Great service by the hotel staff. Continental breakfast included, as well as snacks and drinks available round the clock. Good-sized suite--we had a one bedroom with a balcony. Only complaint was the loud construction/renovation by the pool area in the last few days, but I don't think that's likely to repeat.

I rented out a 2 bdr suite for my sisters birthday, the front desk was super pleasant, and we were able to purchase extra ... parking permitts for a very reasonable price, so our friends could stay the night, and not have to drink and drive! The location is great because it is within parking distance of hollywood and highland where the kodak theater is, and all the hollywood nightlife. Also, they offered compliementary beverages and snacks. I dont have anything bad to say about this place. We were a bit loud/ and partied pretty late..but didnt really get any complaints.

We stayed here as a family of 5, with 2 adult sons and a teenage daughter. My kids loved the fact they could go down to the ... front desk for snacks and pop as frequently as they liked free of charge. There was also a nice breakfast bar in the morning. We could walk to Hollywood Blvd. for sightseeing and restaurants. I loved the old Hollywood feeling of this place.

Melinda Jul 24, 2007
The Magic Castle has everything I was looking for in a fun place to stay in Hollywood. Awesome staff, great scones for ... breakfast, lovely & relaxing pool, and within walking distance to everything I'd hoped to see & do. The suite I stayed in was more like an apartment and it was just perfect - lots of room, nicely furnished, comfortable and relaxing. The most pleasant surprise is the complementary snacks and drinks that are yours for the asking at the front desk. And the cucumber water offered in the lobby in hot afternoons is a nice California touch!!!

Wonderful Experience
jon May 30, 2007
The Magic Castle Hotel was more than I expected. The roon was great, the location was ideal, the staff were helpful and ... polite. My daughters liked having breakfast by the poolside every mmorning. They also liked the amenities( popcorn, sodas, candy and popcicles). The bonus was having Sat. brunch and seeing magic shows at the club. WOW! But most importantly, my wife liked the hotel.. Now thats a compliment!! My only concern was the access to the washer and dryer, they needed replacing. Also the dollar changer was not working and the staff didnt have enough quarters. minor problem.. over all i will recommend this hotel to everyone.
