Howard Johnson LaGuardia Airport East
busy traveler Nov 6, 2009
I arrived from Penn Station via taxi. It cost me $50 to get to the hotel which was quite expensive for the travel budget ... that I am allowed. Once arriving at the hotel, the staff was friendly and accommodating, the hotel was clean and orderly and nicely located 2 blocks from #7 subway. I had meetings in Manhatten which meant that traveling back and forth was going to be very pricey and slow by taxi. I found the subway to be convenient and excellent value for getting to and from Grand Central and Times Square ($2.00). The hotel rooms were clean, the neighborhood was quiet for New York, everything worked and I would be happy to stay here again in the future.

I went to New York to attend a wedding. This hotel is about two blocks from the subway. The room was small but I didn't ... spend much time there. Very few TV channels available. Nice continental breakfast served.

I had a wonderful experience while at the hotel. They were very informative and so eager to help out. This is my second ... time staying here and it was again very pleasing to me. The hotel is located in a great area which was very condusive to all the things that I had planned. Getting to Citi Field was very easy, and I loved the fact that the hotel was so close to the train station and many stores and resteraunts. I plan to stay there again. My only complaint was the fact that there wasn't any parking near the hotel, but there were lots available for a fee. Also, the bathroom could have been a little more tidy, but overall i would recommend this hotel to anyone.

Not what or where we expected
Tj Oct 14, 2008
The hotel, a Howard Johnson was in Flushing, and the Cab had trouble finding it as it is right off of downtown, and crammed ... into a transitioned neighborhood that is almost not English Speaking (Chinese, Korean, primarily). We sought something reasonable close to La Guardia Airport, and it was withing 10 or so miles, but was not considered the La Guardia neighborhood by the cab driver from NYC. It was nice, but required stairs with suitcases to reach the lobby. Food options (a continental breakfast) were minimal. the staff were nice and friendly, but figuring out safety and food outside the hotel for the evening we stayed was problematic. We followed staff advise, and it turned out o.k., but was not where I would ever recommend my wife stay alone when she has to return in November.

It's in Downtown Flushing, and a need for oriental languages is necessary to be comfortable. English is spoken, but not well.

The hotel is a short 2 block walk to the subway station and the tennis center is only one stop away. The room was small ... but ok. The staff was friendly and helpful. We would recommend this hotel to anyone attending the Open and will stay here again.

First Time New York Travelers
Kelsey Aug 10, 2008
The hotel itself was very clean and quiet. The staff was very friendly and helpful. For first time New York travelers ... this hotel offers a unique experience. This hotel is in a very diverse part of New York. It has a convenient walk to the subway station, which is the last stop on the line. To get into Manhattan it takes about 30-45 minutes by subway. Also, you'll have to take a taxi to and from the airports but they are flat rate. Overall, this was a very comfortable stay.

Close to US Open
Edwin Sep 2, 2007
We chose the Howard Johnson La Guardia Airport East due to it,s proximity to both the airport and the US Open. We were ... disappointed that the hotel does not offer a complimentary shuttle service to and from La Guardia. We were very pleased, however, that the hotel is only 2 blocks from the Main Street Queens subway station, which is a short ride (1 stop) to Flushing Meadows and the US Open. The complimentary breakfast in the morning had limited selection. The size of the room was typical for any hotel room in the New York City area - the room was quite small for what we paid by the standards of almost any other hotel I've ever stayed in. Overall, this hotel satisfied our needs for this trip to attend the US Open. If we were staying in the NYC area for another reason, we would probably stay elsewhere.

The hotel is surrounded by Chinatown. We found several intriguing Chinese restaurants in the area, within easy walking distance. They specialize in fresh seafood and the service and the food was excellent.
