Great view of DC Mall
Incidental Tourist Nov 22, 2009
First room had a soaking wet floor. Replacement was next to service elevator and reaked of smoke. On demand, moved again; ... this room was acceptable. All went well thereafter. After two days of business, took two days of vacation. Learned the Metro system. Initially confusing, then easy after first use. Access two blocks from hotel. Train takes 10 min. to Arlington Cemetery; 25 min. to Smithsonian and DC Mall (All monuments, Whitehouse and Capital Hill). DO NOT GET A CAR!!!! Parking is expensive! HIGHLY recommend the Old Town Trolley tours ($35 for two days, all loops, off-and-on at will.) Includes Arlington Cemetery drop-off loop and National Cathederal/ Embasy Row loop. Very well worth it for two-day overview. Arlington runs its own tours -- well worth the $7.50 fee (or walk for free). National Cathederal asks $10 donation. Did all we could in two days. Must return for museum visits. NOTE: Whitehouse tour requires ticket from YOUR member of Congress--check well in advance of visit.
Traveler type: Business
Drinks are EXPENSIVE. Dinners are moderate. Quality is good. Expect to spend $85 to $100 per couple (Dinner), $35 (Breakfast/lunch) (HINT: Lenox Market Deli is just around the corner for a quick, cheap sandwich or snack).

Traveling from Pennsylvania Nov 9, 2009
Visited Family and Toured the DC and Arlington, VA sites including museums, monuments, and cemetery. Location of Hotelis ... great but if you stay on a weekend watch out for conventions. This hotel is not a good place for families when it is hosting a convention. There were more than a few drunks around. FYI - If traveling I-95 by car - fill up on gas before leaving for home/destination - we hit major delays and almost ran out of gas on a Sunday night.
Traveler type: Couples
The Pentagon is near by and all the sites and museums in Washington DC are a short and inexpensive ($2.00) Metro (subway) ride. Arlington National Cemetery is a short drive way. Parking is hard to get and expensive ($27.00 a day the hotel. Try to use local buses, trains, and subway.

Good location for DC
DC VA traveler Sep 16, 2009
I had a meeting to attend in Washington DC and the location of this hotel was excellent for that. Fortuneatly, my meeting was ... at 1 pm and I did not have to deal with rush hour traffic from Arlington to DC in the am. There was a mall within walking distance of the hotel which I walked to in my spare time and many restaurants in the area as well as a food court in the mall. We booked a room at the Doubletree in Crystal City because its close to Alexandria, Arlington and Washington. The purpose of ... the trip was to find an apartment in the DC NOVA area and we could not have chosen a better hotel for the price and location. Service was what you would expect from a Doubletree meaning GREAT!!! The only knock that I have against the hotel is the $21 per night parking fee. I enjoyed my stay at Doubletree Hotel
Joy Jun 11, 2009
I had a two day booksigning at the USHMM in which all profits from the book went to the museum. I couldn't have asked for my ... trip and stay to have been better except for one cab driver. As I had to go back and forth to the museum by cab for 3 days, I went by cab. One driver(solid gray cab) was very verbally abusive and also cheated on the fare.If I knew the name of the company I would report him so others would not have to suffer him. I hailed the cab from the US Holocaust Memorial Museum on Monday around 5:00 pm. All the others were very nice and pleasant and did not overcharge. I was very saddened to hear that a guard was killed at the Museum the day after I left...so sad for him and his family and co-workers. So sad that such hatred exists.

Great location in sight of the Pentagon. The room was clean. I used the hotel for a weekend solely as a place to sleep and ... shower and was very pleased. The most memorable part was the staff. EVERY staff person greeted me even if we were just sharing an elevator. I came across two staff people on a break and they jumped into action and opened a door for me.
