Arrived to find a well maintained older hotel with very friendly & helpful staff. Good parking, room was clean, but floor ... could have been vacuumed a little better (and was, the next day). Clean bathroom, and all the bedding, towels, etc were in good condition. Mini 'fridge and microwave are nice for leftovers or beverages. The room was quiet, with few street sounds or other guest noises intruding. There are 2 computers in the lobby for guests to use. My only complaint: They have no non-alcohol beer available in the lounge.

Great room for the price
Sharimac Aug 26, 2009
The hotel staff was friendly but service broke down at the restaurant and lounge. There is a nice patio area outside the ... restaurant and bar, but it isn't serviced frequently by the staff. After a 10 minute wait in the bar (with no bartender in sight), an additional 10 minutes on the patio with no service, I went into the restaurant - no host in sight. Finally, a waiter approached and took my order for a glass of wine, which was brought to me in a plastic cup so I could take it out to the patio myself. The pool area also closed extremely early. The room was average, but clean and quiet. There is a charge to use the internet making the hotel less desireable for business travel. Great location central to everything in the town.

Don't miss a drive over the Colorado National Monument. It's approximately 10 miles out of town and provides beautiful views of the valley plus some amazing sandstone formations. A great place for a family picnic.

Rich Aug 24, 2009
Smelled like a cheap motel. The indoor pool chlorine stinks up the hallways. The towels are like sandpaper. The sheets and ... bedding were very cheap and thin. The pillows are rubber. Supplied soap bars are the cheapest they could find. Air cond was very loud and musty. bathroom fan was very loud. Continintal breakfast is not free. Big problem with bird poop on cars. The staff was fine and house keeping helpfull. There are to many good places in the area to ever stay here again, avoid at all costs.

Not a very good place to stay. Very poor quality. Whoever did the remodel should not have been paid. Wha was it like before the remodel?

Grand Vista Hotel
Marso Jul 16, 2009
Soon after arriving, power went out for a large section of the city including the hotel. One elevator kept running, and the ... hotel's computer system stayed alive. The staff didn't seem bothered, continued their work, and handed out flashlights to whomever wanted them. Other than the rooms getting stuffy without air moving on a very warm day, and the restaurant not able to serve, the 2-hour incident was handled very smoothly.

Loads of places close by to eat or gas up.
--clee, Denver, CO Apr 22, 2009
There are quite a few gas stations, and dining options in the very near vicinity. There is a grocery store a short distance from the hotel. The local shopping mall is only about a 12-15 min drive. Also if you are in the area for medical reasons St. Mary's hospital is a short distance as well.
--Jimi, Monticello, UT Nov 1, 2008
There is a restaurant inside the Hotel or there are several places nearby you could walk to.
--Emmanuel, Cortez Sep 16, 2008
If you are having a hard time finding a place to stay - this hotel will certainly suffice. Next time we will probably try one of the nearby chain hotels.
