Great price and location
Leenie Sep 9, 2009
We were visiting family in the area and the Vagabond Inn was close by. Hotel grounds were very well kept and the staff was ... friendly and helpful. When we travel to Chula Vista, we usually stay at the Ramada or La Quinta. But, the Vagabond is conviently close to downtown Chula and the Mall. Just two problems: The TV volume control was stuck on loud and an electrical outlet near a bed wasn't working.

When traveling to San Diego, staying in Chula Vista is much cheaper. It's not a far drive to downtown SD, the beach, Balboa Park, the Zoo, Mexico or many other local attractions. I'm a native San Diegan so I'm very familiar with the area. Chula still has a hometown feel.

Visited San Diego for an overnight trip, found this place on Orbitz for a fair price. Hotel is not 5 star, but that is not ... what we were expecting. Clean with friendly staff. Microwave and mini fridge definitely a plus they both worked well. Room and bathroom were very clean. Comfortable bed and pillows.

Only about 15 minutes outside San Diego but a lot more affordable than hotels in San Diego. Trolley stop was right outside hotel and takes you anywhere you want to go. A lot more affordable than taking your car and feeding the meter everywhere you go in San Diego.

If you want a more substantial breakfast than the provided pastries, coffee and juice- Denny's and Emma's Pancake House are just around the corner.

Unbeatable location for the price
Sandy Aug 10, 2009
Had a problem with the air in my room and was switched to a different room without any hesitation from the staff, they did ... everything they could to make sure my stay was enjoyable. Traveled alone and did not have any worries about my safety, food close by and convienant access to the freeway.

My experience at the Vagabond Inn at Chula Vista was an excellent one! The staff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable on ... all matters. I got lost on my way there and a staff member gave me very easy directions. My experience was an extremely positive one. I recommend anyone to stay at Vagabond Inn with no reservations.

Booked at last minute due to bad reviews on hotel i had booked so from someone who trusts reviews i wanted to share mine on ... this one.We stayed for 6 nights June 3rd-9th. Fantastic location close to I-5. Away from a main road so no traffic noise. In walking distance to nearby restaurants, gas station and supermarket if you need them. Rooms cleaned every day with clean sheets which also smelt nice :) We travelled with a 11 month old and 2 year old and it felt a safe location and fantastic that the room had a microwave and fridge. Cribs also available. Pool was rather cold but clean. Breakfast..tea,coffee, orange juice and fresh pastries. Lovely staff and very helpful. We would definitely stay here again :)

Convenient and Good Quality

My walking challenged mother was very favorably impressed with this motel. We could park right in front of the room. There ... was lots of space in the bathroom. The low bathtub edge and long, substantial grab bar made things easy for her. Many of the rooms have this feature. Orbitz said dbl beds but they are queen beds. Recently repainted/refurbished rooms very comfortable with fridge, microwave, and coffee maker in ours. Many eating choices and small grocery store within a couple of blocks. Possible to walk a couple of blocks to the E St. Trolly Station. Very easy and close freeway access. I would certainly stay here again.

Good on a Budget

The Vagabond Inn in Chula Vista was in a very good location. Everything is close by, restaurants are close by. I had some ... car problems and there were several auto shops around to help us out. The room was clean. Not a 4 star room, but enough to sleep and go about your day. The staff was friendly.

If you forget to print tickets (for example Zoo tickets)...there is a Kinkos about 4 or 5 miles from the hotel.
