Great Hotel For The Price!

Our fall getaway trip was Great! This hotel is close to the interstate, but very very quiet! No road noise here. The hotel ... staff was very helpful and friendly! Rooms were very neat and clean. Overall we had a nice time and would stay here again!

I made an Orbitz reservation in July for a late September trip. The room was the farthest from the desk, 5 floors up end of ... the hall. I can't believe that was the best they could do. I was told that was all they had when I got there. I doubt they were sold out since July. The hotel van should have been in the Cash for Clunkers program. A courtesy ride to mass transit was an adventure. The van had all warning lights lit, engine, brakes, etc. The interior was a mess, dirty and broken plastic everywhere. It was so noisy you couldn't talk, you had to yell. The desk said it was fine and had just been serviced. Returning from mass transit was to be up to 8PM. I called at 7:50PM and was told they would see what they could do. They did pick us up. The in-room wireless was unreliable, but again I was told it was fine. I have a new laptop that can connect everywhere except this hotel? Other guests had the same issue. The Business Plus center was a joke. The computer would not connect to the internet and the printer wouldn't do anything. The staff said it rarely worked. The manager on duty did some printing for me, but it took over an hour of waiting at the desk area. The location is bad. A trip to the airport is on the busiest route and takes forever. The van driver said 20 minutes, the desk said 1 and 1/2 hours. The desk clerks were busy and only one was openly friendly. The others were not welcome wagon candidates. I would not stay here again. The ads make it look good, but it is run-down and under many coats of old paint. The jetted tub was disconnected, the van is shot, the entrance gloomy, not a pretty sight. Spend a few more dollars and go elsewhere.

When we visited downtown Boston we drove a short distance from the hotel to the Amtrak station and took the train into town. It was only $4.00 to park for the whole day and it is a very secure lot. I would definitely recommend this over trying to find parking downtown.

good place for a family on a budget
Winkies Aug 11, 2009
We stayed at this hotel while we were site seeing in downtown Boston. This hotel really was perfect for what we needed it ... for. The hotel is older so I had some trouble with the door to our room sticking, but for the price I can not complain. Overall, I felt very safe here with my family and I would stay again. One side note is that if anyone plans on using the computers in the lobby for work like I did, think again. I suggest bringing your own.

The hotel was clean and the food was pretty good. Our shower (handicap accessible room) leaked and soaked not only the ... bathroom but the hallway outside the bathroom each time we showered. There was an airfreshner that beep every 10 seconds the first 26 hours we were there; finally refilled and quieted after complaining only twice.

Non-smoking mom Jun 14, 2009
We stayed in the hotel for the weekend for a nearby competition. The hotel was priced right for our short stay and included ... breakfast-waffles were great! Hotel was up to date and most of the staff was very nice all except the night desk clerk. A little too arrogant for me. My main complaint was I asked for a non-smoking room which we got, but the 2nd floor reeked of cigarette smoke. It smell so bad my kids covered their mouths when walking down the hall. Make sure you ask for a non-smoking room AND floor!!!!!!!

If you make a right out of the hotel and head into town there are a lot of dining options or McDonalds directly across the street. Wendy's is right there too, but seems to be a huge teenage hang-out spot in the evening.

Nice place to stay near Boston
Falan Nov 21, 2008
The Best Western New Englander was nice. We stayed four nights while in town for a trade show in Boston. It was a quick and ... easy commute to the city, with gas stations and a restaurant/pub right next door. The continental breakfast was nice too, decent options. Didn't have the opportunity to visit the pool or fitness center. The Business Center left a bit to be desired though. Two computers, only one was hooked up to the printer and neither had Microsoft Word. Aside from that, my room was clean and the staff was pleasant. Our host at check in had some kickin bad breath though.

Bad check in experience
Xueheng Aug 25, 2008
We stayed at the hotel once before with good experience. However, this time we encountered an unpleasant check in. When we ... opened the room assigned to us we saw clothes everywhere and the beds were not made. Obviously there are still people staying in the room. We hurried back to the front desk and exchanged for another room. The stay was comfortable otherwise but the unpleasant check in experience was a chock.

My review of Best Western New Englander
Jason Jun 23, 2008
The person that checked us in was not helpful and did not seem interested in being at his job. Also the hotel made the ... mistake of telling their guests to go and have their shuttle go to the the Anderson Station, which is the commuter rail, when you want to go into Boston. You do not want to go there especially on the weekends as they have limited service on the weekend and it is $4.75 each way. You are much better off going down to exit 28 for Sullivan Square which puts you right onto the T and is only $2.00. The rooms, pool, and free breakfast were all good and made up for the inconveniences that we went through. The Spuds resturant that is attached has good food and a freindly wait staff

My stay at the Best Western New Englander took all the stress out of coming back to town for a family get together. The room ... was comfortable and the ammenities were a pleasant surprise. The workout room, computer room and pool were much enjoyed. Nice visit
John Jun 8, 2008
Stayed there for four nights while visitng friends and relatives in the Boston area and found it comfortable and a good ... value. It was close enough to Boston, but far enough away from the big city crowds. That said the major downer was the traffic on the road (Montvale Avenue) that runs in front of the place. There is no traffic light and you take your life in your hands trying to get out of the place.
