Very good Hotel
StakaStagista Jan 19, 2010
The room was large with 2 beds (mattresses perhaps a little too hard), TV and refrigerator, while the bathroom was small but ... very clean. The Internet connection was free and very good. The only flaw is in the breakfast: not very good nor the quality of the food nor the service but just make do. I stayed only 2 nights, but I found it very well. It's a hotel I'd recommend, even if it is too far from downtown.

Best Western Dragon Gate Inn

For what ever reason, our reservation was for 2 nights but we needed 3. On arrival we told the front desk. They said it would ... be Ok. When we returned the third night they told us we would have to leave. We argued to the point of almost coming to blows. There was a major ball game in town and they could get a better deal I am sure plus the chance we could not find another hotel nearby because of the attendees. I offered to pay the higher rate for the night. I called the police who came but could not do anything further. Never had such treatment in all the years of travel.

Paper Thin Walls & Noisy Atmosphere
Brittany the Curious Jan 4, 2010
The room was very pretty and the front desk staff were very friendly and the only downfall was the paper thin walls and ... whenever someone would walk by our door, the footsteps sounded like a giant was passing by. I was awakened at 7am because the people next door were leaving and I could hear everything that was going on.. then the housekeeping started and it was incredibly loud. I could hear all the people talking very loudly downstairs at the cafe and shops. So be warned, it's extremely noisy in this hotel! But I will admit that it was adequate for the price since we only paid $43 for one night.

Chinatown hotel
jeanlong Dec 28, 2009
Fabulous Chinatown location, walking distance to restaurants, shops, bank. Central location, short drive to ... everything/anything in L.A. area. Staff efficient and friendly in check-in. Price of room does not include $8 parking fee which goes until Noon, then $3 more if you leave the car in the garage, so if price is factor, consider the cost of parking. Breakfast is included in downstairs courtyard but serving area is totally cramped, hot water is insufficient for tea or oatmeal, and with only 2 toasters those are totally inadequate to handle load of people wanting bagels and toast; plus, waffles are not self-serve and staff was undercooking them all so they are soggy. this probably explains the cheap room price. If location is important, this is it. Plenty of nearby inexpensive places for breakfast though.

Decent hotel for a stay in China town
Nikkichikki Oct 21, 2009
It was a fine stay. The hotel room itself was clean with no evidence of bugs, which was a concern of ours. The area though, ... is a different story. Very dirty and not the safest place after dark perhaps, but that's China town I guess. About 10 mins walk from Union Station, which is helpful if you want to take the trains.

Bookkeeper Jay Oct 20, 2009
This was my second lodging for my trip, since my time in LA was extended. They let me check in early. I just wanted a place ... to chill out and relax. I stayed in a Best Western hotel before and I was impressed. The room was clean and neat, a lot of space, some nice amenities in the room, high speed internet access. And being located in Chinatown is a plus, it's a short bus ride to Chinatown.

I was disappointed in the overall condition of the room. There was a coffee pot but no cups and the alarm clock did not ... work. It wasn't a big comfort when I called and asked for a wake up call and was told to,"set your alarm just in case". One bar of soap provided and no shampoo included. Overall a bed in a good location especially if you like chinese food.

Close to attractions
Dang Sep 1, 2008
The Best Western Dragon Gate Inn in Los Angeles, California was right in the middle of downtown LA. I loved staying there ... because I could walk to Chinatown each morning to enjoy dim sum. The people there just ignore you and let you enjoy the surrounding. Most of the food are good deals and so are the merchandises. From the hotel it only took me 15 minutes to get to Universal Studio, where my friends and I stayed all day. The room was somewhat spacious and it had a fridge that kept our drinks cold. When we were all worn out from visiting the many attractions, the hotel room was a welcome site. The area surround the hotel was very peaceful and it made me feel safe and carefree.

There is Universal Studio and Six Flag Theme park to the north, Hollywood to the west and many beaches to the south west of the hotel. If a person enjoy Vietnamese cuisine then it's a 30 min drive south on I5 to Santa Ana where the hub of many Vietnamese restaurant and shopping mall can be found.

Kaixin May 22, 2008
The only good thing about it is that the room is quite spacious. The breakfast was bad, the caffee was really tiny and all ... the food and drinks seem not to be fresh nor clean. We could see many flies around. The amenities were old.

Roberto Apr 18, 2008
The Best Western Dragon Inn was very comfortable. The rooms are clean and safe. The staff are very freindly and helpful. ... There is a refrigerator in the room that makes convient and helpful. It is located in the heart of Chinatown surrounded by lots of shops and excellent restaurants. It is also close to dowtown LA and vicity. There is a hotel parking, but charge an $8 fee/night which the surrounding lot change between $3-$5. I will definetly come and stay at the Best Western Dragon Inn again. I just wish that I have known this hotel before.

I was on a trip to the L.A. Mart for the first time and location was important to me so I selected this hotel which is a ... straight shot down Hill Street to the Mart. The hotel is in an older part of town and in the heart of China Town. The guests were from all over the world. All were fun and pleased with the hotel, as were we. The beds and pillows were extremely comfortable. I would stay there again.

Sung Kyung Jan 6, 2008
I was pretty dissappointed when I arrived there. It was middle of china town and the building looked old and small. The ... breakfast was the worst. I had to pick every little stuff by myself among the packed other guests in the very small market, and there were only few tables and chairs outside and it was rainy, so I brought my breakfast full in my hands back in my room in order to eat them. Staffs were kind, and the room was neat. I really liked those, but I couldn't choose the beds.

Hotel was ok, parking was a nightmare
Marius Jan 4, 2008
Located in Chinatown, close to all important business areas in Downtown LA. I had a quiet, relatively spacey room. The room ... was clean and the comfort ok, the chambermaid was very friendly. Parking was a nightmare. Some guy of the garage staff was extremely rude, he shouted at me upon arrival, he wanted me to park in the most difficult accessable parking spot, while 80% of the parking garage was not occupied. Then he told me when I park after 8pm I won't be able to get my car until 6am. I did not complain about this guy while I was there, because I was afraid he might damage my 'luxury' car. In 15 years of business travel, I never experienced somebody that rude.

The Best Western Gradon Gate Inn's staff was very helpful. I went to L.A. to take a test. The guests live next to my room ... were talking so loud and I need some quiet time to review my material and have a good night sleep. I requested the front desk to change to room for me. The staff at front desk, after make a phone call, arranged me to the other room which is more isolate and quiet. I am very please for the re-arrangement. I have some quiet time to study and sleep. Next day I was doing very on my test. I appreiciated this.
