Whether you're in New York for business or pleasure, you'll be comfortable here. For one thing, our guestrooms are larger than the typical New York hotel room. What's more, specially constructed thick walls and floors, combined with and our unique, acoustically protected locations, creates something we call sleep ability. You'll enjoy a good night's sleep even though you're in the heart of a busy city.

Nothing nostalgic about Park Central
Myopic Feb 1, 2010
The hotel is throbbing, contemporary and entertaining to be in. I had one bad experience with a check-in receptionist and one ... good experience with another, sharper one named [...] a half hour later. The room was clean, large enough and well appointed. No sense of previous guest(s). The cleaning staff was efficient and upbeat. The business center was useful but computer time gets pricey quickly unless you're just checking in for a flight or flying through email. The extreme lighting and decor in the lobby bar could lead a saint to a bout of depression; the rest of the lobby was lively, not overdone. You can't beat the location. If you're staying over a Saturday night, ear plugs would be a good thing to have in the travel kit.

The Korean grocery store a half block south and the bakery a half block south on the east side of the street are great resources for off-hour rescues. The bakery serves small meals and is as reasonably priced as any place in mid-town.

EXCELLENT stay at Park Central
AJ Dec 30, 2009
Walked around and occasionally took the subway, and the best part was that the hotel was close to ALL of it. I was skeptical ... about this hotel based on the reviews, but our room was great - zero noise, no mold or bacteria on the walls or bathroom, TV worked, curtains were present, no issues at all. THere was a gentlemen behind the checkout counter that wasn't too happy to be alive, but other than that, the staff as all kinds of helpful. If you have ANY question at all about anything, I strongly suggest going to the concierge desk. Even if there are 4+ people waiting in line, it's worth it regardless of what your question is - they will help you out. Hope this helps!

I had an excellent experience at the Park Central New York. I've stayed there before and I will stay there again upon my ... return. It is in an excellent location with a very good price. Public transportation to all of New York is just right outside the door. It is within walking distance of everything "New York" and only a short subway ride away from others. I highly recommend this hotel for it's excellence!

Park Central- "Prime location"
Mom and Madsculder Nov 15, 2009
My adult daughter and I traveled Nov 10-14, it is a great location!! Rooms were a bit small, however the bed mattress and ... linens were very comfy!! The concierge desk personnel were very friendly and helpful, and we got some free tickets from some people who left and did not use their passes to some of the museums. I felt safe there, and would recommend this hotel to anyone. Oh one thing it is lacking is a coffee maker and bar refrigerator, that would of made it absolutely perfect, however there is a Starbucks right next door, so it all worked out.

Go to the Empire State Building at night!! The city lights and views were amazing!! The best thing too- No wait like the day time. Just bundle up if you are going now, with a hat and scarf because it gets quite windy at the top!! Secondly if two women are traveling together, try and split your meals because the servings at most of the restaurants are so large!!! Oh and don't miss the Museum of Modern Art!! Also the hotel only has one place to eat, overpriced, besides why would you eat at a hotel anyways you're in New York.

3-Star for New York only
iamfein Nov 9, 2009
We stayed at Park Central for its great location, kitty-corner to Carnegie Hall. Our "superior" room thru [...] was not held ... for us and we were given a room from what was "available". The front desk said that the lower quality rooms were the ones blocked for [...]. The digital safe was listed as not working, but we were not told this upon check-in. Our tickets for the concert at Carnegie (the reason we traveled there) were locked in the non-functioning safe. The staff didcome up a few minutes before the concert to electronically break in to the safe ( otherwise ourstar rating would have been a black hole star!) There is a problem with limos and taxis in New Yorkand there is collusion with the front desk, the doormen and the limos. Since Taxi Medallions cost several hundred thousand dollars and taxi fares toJFK are fixed, it is difficult to get a taxi from JFK ( especially at high traffic times. To make a living ( I guess), limos claim the cost is $60+ (or there abouts) PLUS TOLLS. There are no tolls to or from JFK or the closer La Guardia. The doormen recommend you to their friends (the limos) as do the cell phone guys at the airport. The fee a limo pays to them is $10.00, which they recoup by charging a higher rate than promisedor claiming there are tolls.Park Central may be a 3-Star Hotel in New York City but would be rated that or lower in cities like San Diego, CA.

the hotel was listed as four stars so I was expecting alot...first the entrance lobby was dreary, like the entrance to a ... train station. the person at the desk was friendly enough. the halls of the hotel were also in need of renovation. the room was okay and quiet, and it was reasonably priced, nice prints on the walls, good location, but it wasn't 4 stars.

The Park Central was in a perfect location. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. Room was not large, but more than ... adequate. For me and my daughter it was perfect (not there to spend time in hotel room). Located very close to all shopping, Times Square, Central Park, and many sites. The dining room was closed due to renovations, but there are more than enough alternatives very close.

We thought the room would be better
Husker Travelers Oct 4, 2009
Our hotel was in a great location...2 blocks from Central Park and 6 blocks from Times Square, but the room itself wasn't ... that great. The room was very small, the bathroom was even smaller. There were always house keeping carts in the hall ways on our floor (even when not in use...they were in the hall everyday and we stayed for 4 days). We had an electrical outlet that was very nearly falling out of wall and had a broken cover plate. Our view was of the inner court of the hotel...not a courtyard...a view of four brick walls with the windows of the rooms across the way and of the roof of a lower inner building of the hotel. However, the bed was comfortable and the tv was nice. So, if you don't plan on spending very much time in your hotel room, then it's worth the money for it's location...but it's not worth it to just chill out in your room. One more thing...the restuarant is very over priced...$12.00 for a bowl of cheerios!

dissatisfied guest Sep 24, 2009
After checking in, we went to our room. Found a mans dirty diaper in the trash can in the bathroom. Back to front desk ... requesting another room. we paid for a 'superior' room with a king bed. Was informed that there were no 'superior' rooms. Was given a different room. No king bed, no coffee maker. This time I went to the Guest Relations desk. Explained our disappointment. Because of the problem, we were give free breakfast in the restaurant. Breakfast is approx 30.00 per person, so that was a good deal. Had to call front dest 2 times to get a coffee maker for our room. Room were small, our room was not vacuumed all week, had to ask for fresh wash cloths, coffee maker was not cleaned daily...Overall, was not at all happy with the housekeeping. They done just enough to get by...Thank you,,Warren and Chris Burch

I was in town for a business meeting. The hotel was fine for my needs, comfortable and quiet...a rarity in new York. Best of ... all, I could walk just two blocks to my meeting. I did not have time to do any sightseeing, but the location would also be great for walking in Central Park, or attending a concert at Carnegie Hall, e.g.
