This hotel has a friendly staff and is located in the pedestrian area of Madrid. The hotel, however, is an older hotel and ... does not have all of the modern conviences of new hotels. For this reason the cost of the hotel seems to be too much. It is quiet and restful though.

Hotel was very clean. Location is excellent...walking distance to city center so dining is not a problem. El Corte Ingles, ... Madrid's one-stop shopping center is just a few feet away. Their breakfast is just ok but could be improved so travelers can enjoy their eating in their dining area w/c was nice.

WHEN THE GUEST DON'T COME FIRST....

VERY UNFRIENDLY STAFF, THEY LOCKED THE DOORS AND GO TO SLEEP IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, WHEN YOU RING THE BELL COULD TAKE ... FOREVER FOR THEM TO OPEN (AND THE HOTEL IS IN A LONELY ALLEY AT THESE HOURS), THE FRONT DESK GAVE ME THE DIRTIEST LOOK BECAUSE I WOKE HIM UP! THE SHOWER WOULD GO SUDDENLY FROM BOILING TO ICED COLD WATER, NEVER JUST WARM, COMPLAINT ABOUT IT, THEY SAID "IT HAS BEEN HAPPENING" GOT CHANGE OF ROOM WITHOUT ASKING IF I NEEDED HELP, PROBLEM CONTINUE THE SAME IN NEW ROOM, NEVER ASKED ME IF THE PROBLEM WAS SOLVED, STAFF NEVER SMILED, NEVER MADE EYE CONTACT, WHEN I CHECKED OUT THEY TOLD ME THE PROBLEM WITH THE SHOWER WAS MY FAULT BECAUSE IT HAD TO BE IN "CERTAIN POSITION"...WELL IS NICE TO BE TOLD ABOUT THAT THE VERY LAST DAY ON MY WAY OUT!!!

Best Western Carlos V is located at one of the most central locations of Madrid. You don't need to use metro just walking ... distance to all the shopping places and most historic sites. The wireless internet access is only working in the dinning area and if you have a street facing room you will have a lot of outside noise as the walls and windows are not sound proof. The location is very difficult to find on your own since it is in a ally unless you are taking a taxi. Beside the location I was not impressed with this hotel.
