Romantic Getaway

We flew to Chicago for a romantic weekend getaway. We thought Chicago was fantastic! The Marriott we stayed in was one of the ... worst. I hope some of these problem are fixed for future guests. Also, it wasn't anyone specific fault, but are flight was delayed a few times. Overall, the weekend seemed to be a lot of work and not as enjoyable as we would of preferred.

Family Weekend
Mom Nov 29, 2009
A perfect place for a family weekend. We had a king plus sofabed which worked well with our son. Room was cramped with ... sofabed pulled out. Clean and functional. Our reservation included breakfast and we were invited to have breakfast in the State St Cafe with no dollar limit imposed. That was super. Gym was very well equipped - cardio machines with TV and weights. Only downside was that the rooms were not very well insulated from outside noise. We could hear police sirens quite loudly. Would definitely recommend.

Are the housekeepers on strike?
Tired traveler Nov 28, 2009
When I got to my room, I found it hadn't been made up... there were newspapers strewn around, a half-drunk bottle of water on ... the desk, and crumbs in the chair. I went back to the front desk, and they gave me another room. I found that it hadn't been cleaned, either. Back to the front desk again. This time, the registration clerk upgraded me to a suite, and accompanied me to make sure the room was clean. It looked great, and I appreciated the courtesy of the upgrade. But then a couple hours later I went to warm something up in the microwave, and found the inside of it was covered in who knows how many years of food bits.

Ideally located for Downtown Chicago
Consultant Oct 14, 2009
The hotel was clean and had a very friendly and attentive staff. The hotel is located near many restuarants and pubs. All are ... well with in walking distance or a short cab ride. If you are staying in Chicago and want to be north of the river this was a good place to stay. They have a small restuarant that has the basics. I found it good for breakfast. You choose to dine there or you can take it out and bring it to your room. I did both during my staff and the food was good.

Chicago Business Trip
Tom Sep 21, 2009
As I was only there one night and really only slept in the room I have little to say of benefit. There were acceptable ... accomodations, the bed was comfortable and I looked at the pool and workout area which were surprisingly good for a small hotel. There was quite a bit of street noise in the morning that woke me up and I was on the 8th floor. However, this is to be expected in a city hotel so I would not list it as a complaint just an inevitability.

Fantastic hotel! The room was much larger than other hotels I've stayed at in Chicago. The location was ideal, two blocks to ... Michigan Ave, two blocks to the red line. We ate dinner one night at Brasserie Jo just down the street and it was delicious! The hotel staff was very friendly and helpful. We'll definitely stay here again.
