Comfortable hotel in a good location.
Grandpa Julian Oct 29, 2009
We were visiting family in the area and spent very little time in the hotel. We arrived after 11:00 on a Saturday night and ... were given a room with a queen sized bed instead of the king we had reserved. When we brought this to her attention, the staff member at the desk was apologetic, gave us free breakfast vouchers for two days, and changed us to a bigger room with a king sized bed for our second night. Both rooms were comfortable and quiet. On Monday morning, after a tasty breakfast at the hotel, we walked to the Metro stop and took the subway to the airport. We look forward to returning to the Doubletree on other visits to DC.

Decent hotel for the price....
SM Aug 29, 2009
We stayed 2 nights while taking my son to college in DC. Very nice, clean, contemporary room. Desk staff very pleasant. ... Arrived an hour early and no problem checking in early. Valet parking was included in my rate but is normally $28 per day. Printed directions to Metro would have been helpful-we were between Farragot and Dupont-about a 15 minute walk. Water pressure in the shower was very weak and took 5 minutes to get hot water. Found a hole in the bottom sheet on the second night, but I was so tired at that point, I didn't call down for a new one. The second day we had rain in the morning when we went out, the hotel was all out of their complimentary umbrellas, had to go a few blocks to the CVS to buy one. All in all, it was ok-next time I will stay closer to the metro.

The hotel was in a good location and safe neighborhood. It was about a 10 minute walk to Dupont circle and a Whole foods ... about 5 minutes in the other direction. It was 5 blks from a metro station and we walked to the White House our first day. The hotel was clean with nice decor and friendly staff. Overall it was a great value. I would stay here again.

Cubs Trip
Cubs Jul 20, 2009
Went to all the sites and went to the Nats Cubs game for the weekend. Overall, not a big fan of DC. finding a cab late at ... night is almost impossible. The hotel was nice, but got there for early check in on Saturday and said there weren't any rooms available after they told us it wouldn't be a problem to check in early when I called the day before. either way we went out to see the sites while waiting for our room and they were supposed to call. 3:30 no call and when we got back our room still wasn't ready. [...], the customer service lady upfront was rude and didn't care at all that she didn't contact us about the room. It took the night people to apologize and give us a comp for the breakfast. If you have to deal of the lady we dealt with. Be Aware.

Arrived at the hotel a day early and in the morning, they were more then accommodating. Got into a room right then and there. ... Staff was all very polite and they even give you a warm cookie when you check in. room was very large with a plasma TV. The location of the hotel is in the middle of the DC and walking distance to the white house or to the night life scene at Adams Morgan. Also when checking out there is a complementary bag hold service which made the last day there very enjoyable.

Great escape near downtown DC
Maggie Jun 21, 2009
We only had 2 days to spend in DC so we wanted to be close to all the sites. Our hotel was only 6 blocks from the White ... House. A lot of the sites were within walking distance of each other once you got to them. We walked everywhere the first day then took a cab home. The second day we tried the double decker tour bus. You're ticket included 3 different tour routes and also a night tour. You could stay on the bus and ride the route or get on and off when you're ready to. The only problem with that was finding a bus when you needed it. We did get to see places we would not have known to look for. Also, it would have been more economical to buy a 2 day pass.
Traveler type: Couples
Hotel parking was expensive. $34 per day. Most sites within in DC (monuments, museums, restaurants, etc) were a $10 cab ride from the hotel. Once you get in a site seeing area you will be able to walk between the museums. Or you may use the metro or tour busses that make stops every 45 minutes around the sites. Information on tours is in the lobby. The staff were very helpful.

Nice overall hotel in good area
Steve Jun 2, 2009
Hotel was overall very nice. They've done a good job of keeping an older building in fresh and good shape. Restaurant and ... staff were both very good. Prices for meals were reasonable and food was excellent including roomservice. Within walking distance of the capital and monuments and embassy row among others. Also pretty close to the metro trains (within a half mile about). Room was clean and nice and nice bathroom. Hallway is narrow and room layout isn't great, but bed, desk, TV, shower, etc were all nice. Worth staying at.

We had a great time. Warm cookies greeted us with a friendly front-desk employee. Our room was spotless; I'm very picky ... about cleanliness, and this met my expectation! We would certainly go back again - even with our children. The restaurant food was delicious. One negative was that there was no pool or sauna.

The Doubletree Hotel Washington is a good mid-range property. Our (visco-elastic) Tempur-pedic mattresses took some getting ... used to, but they seemed fine. Note that this hotel is undergoing renovation scheduled to begin in fall 2008. The location is handy to Dupont Circle and the Metro there (about eight blocks), but there is no outside dining or entertainment in the immediate neighborhood. This is a safe section of Washington day and night, a definite plus.

Fantastic Value!
Benjamin Sep 27, 2008
The Double Tree Washington far exceeded my expectations. Located near Dupont circle, I was pleased with the location and the ... room clenliness & amenities. THe Posturpedic beds were the best I've slept on in any hotel. Speaking of small luxuries - they even gave us a warm chocolate chip cookie at check-in! THe only downside was that the walls might be a little thin - either that or the person talking on their phone in the room next door was a REALLY loud talker. All in all, I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough - it's the only place I'll stay in DC from now on!

The Doubletree was a great deal for what it is - yes the rooms are small and imperfect... and the valet parking left ... something to be desired... he room was comfortable and clean and the location was fantastic... the hotel staff went out of their way to be helpful and the restaurant had a great breakfast... I highly recommend this option for the budget conscious traveller...

The room was very comfortable and nicely appointed. The hotel staff was friendly and helpful when ever we spoke with them or ... had a question. Considering its convenient proximity to the Capital, is was resonably priced. The resturant was also very nice The drawbacks were, too few freely availible electrical outlets ( I had to unplug a lamp to even get access to a second outlet! ) and a $10/day charge for wireless internet access unless you wished to travel down to the lobby and sit there for free access! When every $70 a night motel offers free wireless internet access I felt it ridiculous to pay half a month's home rates for 24 hours.

If you go to The Smithsonian Museums go early! Air and Space is incredible for aviation buffs and the Natural History museum is as well. It will really take 3 days to see them all. Pizza Paridisio is a six or seven block walk SSE of the hotel but well worth it for the 'craft' pizza lover.

Great Staff and Beautiful Hotel
jAMI May 20, 2007
The Doubletree staff was exceptional. When we realized we had booked rooms with only queen- sized beds, the staff immediately ... changed our rooms to accommadate our needs. They made sure that we had transporation to all our events and went out of their way to provide us with a comfortable ride to the airport. The rooms were cleaned on time and looked beautiful. There are cozy seating areas through out the hotel. We enjoyed time sitting in the lobby with our family. The restaurant staff made sure we had coffee and snacks at any time. The location is near Dupont Circle, a great area for shopping and dining, etc. Of course, Washington is a wonderful place to visit and the Doubletree is a great place to stay.
