Nice but Costly
Crazy Bruce Dec 7, 2009
I have always enjoyed this Hotel. Unfortunately, they are now charging for items that were free in the past. One is they now ... charge $14 a day for parking. Another is they now charge almost $10 a day for the internet. You can get a room at a $50 hotel that even has free internet. I think they are starting to nickle and dime their way to more profit. I will try somewhere else next time.

Excellent site to combine a restful vacation with a professional conference. Walking from meeting room to meeting room gave ... me a sense of calm, as I enjoyed the beautiful landscape.

THe hotel van took 2 of us to Old Town one night where we had a delightfully authentic Mexican dinner and walked around enjoying the shops and sights. Two nights later, 5 of us took a very short ride on the train to Old Town and enjoyed another evening. Also used the train to get downtown one afternoon. Take advantage of the closeness of public transportation!!!

Doesn't feel like being in the city
Jeanne K Nov 9, 2009
I spent most of my time at a conference, so the lovely grounds at least gave us some respite from the work. There are ... beautiful gardens everywhere, carefully tended, and the pool areas are also beautiful and sunny. Plenty of small nooks for privacy, in spite of the huge capacity of the place. It has a slow, gracious feel. So convenient to the trolly to go to Old Town and downtown, also. Many choices "on site" for dining, also. My room was clean (though rug probably needs shampoo), but the hallways in the guest room areas were surprisingly un-vaccuumed. Conf center was very clean and service excellent at breaks, etc.

Don't be afraid to take the trolly. It's a safe walk to the trolly station and easy to get a ticket and ride.

Loved the location and ability to go the a great Mall and take bus's to zoo and beach. Everyone was very helpful. Only ... dissappointment was the food for the wedding party rehearsal dinner. There was not enough help, food was cold and came sporatically. However, the food for the wedding was spectacular!!! Thanks

The staff was helpful. The location was awesome, just a short drive from the Gaslamp district and two exits from Qualcom ... stadium. The trolley was cheap, easy, and a fast & convenient way to travel. There are several good restaurants on the premises and if you have a car, venture out to find one of many delectable dining establishments including King's Fishhouse for example.

The rooms reminded me of staying at grandma's house and ours was quite small but CLEAN. Our T.V. was tiny and the restraunt ... Tresilles that we ate at for breakfast was awful. The food taste of cleaning product....mmmmm. This hotel has a good location and alot of amenities but for the price I'd recommend staying somewhere else.

Town & Country Resort- Nice Surprise
Kathy-The Traveler Aug 10, 2009
We were surprised at easy access and how close it was to Sea World. Just off the fwy., nice surprise with bungelows, ... gardens, privacy. There were three different locations with pools...I loved the garden and seating areas - sitting, talking, reading, etc. It felt more like being in Hawaii or a Tropical setting with all the folliage and roses. It was amazing how quaint the area was for being right in a busy areas. We had a wonderful breakfast, enjoyed a swim, before checking out and going to Sea World. We all decided that we would enjoy coming back, again. Our next trip back we decided we would rather stay in the bungelows or single story units, which opnened up right to the patios and pools.

Close access to Sea World. Restaurants on location...very enjoyable....very good value. Delightful surroundings....did not feel like a cookie cutter standard hotel room.

I really liked it. The grounds are beautiful. The rooms are pretty, clean and relaxing. The pool was warm and well lit at ... night. Lots of restaurants to choose from. On the flip side, the staff wasn't very warm or smiley and I don't like it when hotels charge you to use their fitness center when you're already paying to stay there.

Soccer Mom Jul 27, 2009
Just keep in mind that this was a HUGE facility! In spite of the vastness, the staff is very friendly, efficient and check ... out time was quick. The rooms were small, yet clean and housekeeping was timely when we needed more towels. It has very easy access on and off I-8, both east and west bound! With two autos to pay for daily parking, the added expense was a surprise...make certain to read the fine print, otherwise it was a good value for the money!A wonderful mall is directly behind the facility and with a foot bridge that leads right too it, you can pick up a quick lunch at the mall's food court.

Because of the vastness of the facility, you might want to bring your comfortable walking shoes. The upscale mall behind, within walking distance, made for a very enjoyable shopping day!

Cottage in San Diego
Punko Jul 27, 2009
This hotel was charming with a "cottage" style and feel to it. Our room had a personal patio in the front, shaded with large ... trees. However, not all rooms are like that. The room was averaged sized, but plenty large for 2 people. It was disappointing to find out that we had to pay for parking for each car even though we were hotel guests. We had 3 cars, and that added up quickly. I would have rather stayed at a different hotel with free parking, even if it was a bit more expensive. The parking was also very disappointing because we couldn't even park near our room. After around 5 minutes of driving around the hotel property, we finally found a spot, but weren't even sure if we were allowed to park there. Their housekeeping staff seems to do an excellent job, as the room was very clean! The staff was pleasant and the breakfast buffet was not too bad. Overall, we enjoyed the stay. However, we doubt we would stay there again, only because each time we had left the property, parking was a problem. Parking may be better on other parts of the property... at least it appeared that way.
