Spacious Caribbean villa-style suites in a romantic vacation setting await you at Point Pleasant Resort, one of our fine families of St. Thomas resorts from Antilles Resorts. Relax on Pineapple Beach, adjacent to our shoreline, or discover the secluded Sugar Beach at the end of the nature trail in our 15-acre island preserve. Three intimate pools and sun decks are nestled among the lush hillside, hidden high above the horizon. You'll enjoy award-winning dining at our two restaurants, The Agave Restaurant and Fungi's On The Beach, which are ranked among the finest of all St Thomas resorts eateries. For water sports and fun, we include complimentary snorkel gear, kayaks, and offer introductory scuba lessons, along with a complimentary property shuttle.

There is also a sundry facility in the guest services area where you can purchase breakfast items, snacks and beverages of all types.

St. Thomas has been a shopping Mecca since the late 1600s and, for a period in the early 1700s, the island was a a pirate refuge for notorious buccaneers and, by 1800, Charlotte Amalie was one of the busiest ports and trading centers in the Caribbean. Today, Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas is a choice port of call among the cruise lines and a popular Virgin Island vacation destination. It is the United State's Caribbean's major cruise port and king of all duty-free shopping destinations. Bargain hunters are spurred on by the sheer variety of merchandise. In addition to the colorful street vendors and the dockside Havensight Mall in renovated old West Indian Company buildings, there are charming shops in the lanes between the waterfront and Maine Street.

The Virgin Island climate is tropical with wonderful average winter daytime temperatures of 78 degrees F. and summer daytime temperatures of about 82 degrees F.

Traditional taxis are available, As an alternative, Caribbean taxis are available everywhere. These charming vehicles are a cross between bus and private car: multiple passengers share rides, and enjoy an expert's (the driver) rendition of a mini tour of whatever part of the island the ride covers. Drivers are available for hire -by the hour or day- for a more extensive private guided excursion. If you decide to rent a car, be prepared to drive on the left side of the road - English style!

The hotel features the following amenities: A/C, cable, TV, ceiling fan, tennis courts, hairdryer, tour assistance, concierge services, restaurants, free parking, wedding services, bar-lounge, full kitchen, rollaway beds, microwave, housekeeping, cribs, free local calls, Internet wireless access, in-room safe and voicemail.

A Pleasant place

STT Nov 17, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Spacious pleasant accomodations, beautiful views, very quiet. Food is expensive,$5.49 for a bag of doritos. Shopping for ... groceries and eating in helped. A rental car (or Jeep) is a must. Make sure you can take the ferry to St. John, to see the beautiful beaches. 50$ round trip, money well spent. I had no problem, but driving on the left side of the road could deter some people.

Not So Pleasant

Chef Oct 15, 2009

The view was beautiful and that was about it. A shuttle is required to get from room to lobby. Breakfast is not served ... there so you have to go to the next resort and the shuttle does not pick up after 12 noon, which we were not informed of. After 8pm the shuttle is no longer available to get around the resort and it's doesn't feel very safe, poor lighting at night. Not to mention the room service. Housekeeping did not wash the couple of glasses in the sink! We received housekeeping everyday just to tidy up the bathroom and beds but not on Sunday. So, after returning to the room on Sunday there were no clean towels available. When I called the front desk THEN we were informed that they only come 3 times a week! When we asked for towels there was a question of why! Not to mention the sugar ant trail in the room. The watersports activity center was closed for jetskis and the receptionist couldn't refer to another company. Also, my friend had reserved the room prior to booking thru [...] and cancelled the reservation within the time frame as outlined in the resort contract. At the time of arrival her refund was not given and the credit card company is STILL disputing with the resort 3 weeks after canceling. My friends and I will not be returning to this reosrt!

Beautiful view but a comedy of errors

Beth Oct 5, 2009

This resort has a beautiful view. Like the reviews of other writers that I read before we vacationed, there are a lot of ... steep hills but it's a short walk to the beach, pools, restaurants. We rented a car so we didn't have to walk it that often. We had a nice time on our vacation, but overall it was a comedy of errors. The locals on St. Thomas aren't very friendly at all, especially the ones who don't work for tips. Funny that their job and economy depends on tourism, yet they are rude to the tourists. No one was rude at the hotel, but they didnt offer much help either. Apparently Sept and Oct are the "off season" because it's more humid than usual, people from the States arent trying to get away from the cold as they would in the winter, and school is in session. So many things on the island were closed, INCLUDING the popular Fungi's and Agave Terrace on the resort. HOW FRUSTRATING! Fungi's is literally on the water, you can walk right off the dining area into the ocean, and there is an advertisment that hotel guests get free kayaks and snorkel gear, so that was SO annoying that they were completely closed. The adjacent Pineapple Beach was dirty, and Sugar Beach was lovely and peaceful but really small... large enough really only for 2 or 3 small families or groups to enjoy without being on top of each other. Also with no way to rent chairs, snorkel gear, or food and water, there isnt much to do. The drivers on St. Thomas are also very aggressive, it's like there are no rules, so although we had our own jeep rental, we were half the time afraid to drive it. (Also, you drive on the left.) So we were lucky to finally make it to nearby Havensight (just past Red Hook which is convienently located less than 5 mins from Point Pleasant) and found a nice woman from the states who helped us book some nice activities. We reccommend the New Horizons boat both for the sunset cruise and the day snorkel/sail trip. We also reccommend the Eco Tour. We don't reccommend Coral World, right across the bay from Point Pleasant. They were rude and not helpful and the events that would be "worth the fun" such as the Sea Lion swim, are WAY too expensive. We also reccommend a day trip to St. John ($5 ferry ride each way), do some snorkeling on St. John and the Reef Bay Hike. The New Horizons boat allows you to snorkel on St. John. Magen's Bay beach on St. Thomas is also nice. The water and the breeze everywhere cannot be beat. We did love our room at Point Pleasant. It was a larger suite which we didn't pay for, but apparently were upgraded because it was available. We had a large balcony, full living room and kitchen, so we ate dinner in for 3 of the nights, on our beautiful balcony with a view of the crystal blue waters and a wonderful breeze. Agave Terrace finally opened the very last night, and it was a romantic setting and good food for reasonable price ($100 total for 2 people including drinks and dessert.) St. Thomas has a LOT of rum drinkers, most people drink literally all day. All in all, we had a nice time once someone finally guided us on some things to do.. but driving sucks, and I think you should call Point Pleasant first to see if Fungi's is going to be open and if they have the free snorkel gear... otherwise, stay next door at Wyndam. You might not get as great a view from your room, but their beach is bigger, cleaner, their restaurants on the beach were open, they had a bigger pool, a safer family feel, and their water activity center was actually open. Being off season was nice because maybe there were less people (I can only imagine the streets being even busier with more tourists!) but the off season was also hard because less things were open and available. So they said, the "on season" is Thanksgiving until Mother's Day. I hope this helps! I wish I'd had more reviews on the crazy driving and the seasonal openings!

"Fantastic, Just Fantastic"

Would recommend to a friend!

I was there on business. I had friends there also and just had to invite them over. This hotel this Junior suite was out of ... this world. Seeing it on the internet when i was looking at the room looked real nice. But, but OMG when i saw it in person. It was fantastic. I was there for 4 night and five days. I sadden me dearly as my days was counting down, and when it was the last night. It's great for family, lovers and friends. I highly recommend this hotel to every and anyone. The bedroom, the kitichen, the livingroom dinning room and don't forget the patio. Up to date tv's two bathrooms spacious spacious, rooms and closets. I will be going back for the christmas holiday with family . I give it a XXXXXX (six X)

Great Romatic Getaway

Fredi Aug 22, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Built on a large hill, this is not a Hotel, it's a wonderful secluded condo style resort. If you are looking for a hotel ... resort, stay at the Wyndham next door. The balcony views are amazing, we filled our fridge the first day with food and booze and set out to a different beach each day. Located close to Red Hook and the ferry to St Johns, you must take the Ferry over and try out as many beaches as possible! The staff at the Wyndham next door were welcoming and we used their pool facilities on a couple occasions. Only issue we had was we booked a Parasailing trip at the Guest Services desk with a deposit, but they never called it in to the company. They were surprised to see us at the dock as they had no confirmation but took us out with another couple anyways, though I believe our flight may have been shorted because of this. No ice on the premises, no ATM either and they will only cash $100 per day in travelers checks if they have the money, so be prepared at the beginning of your day if you need cash. Point Pleasant Resort in all was beautiful and the exact secluded resort we expected: my girlfriend still raves this was the second most romantic vacation we've ever been on, next to Aruba! Cheers

Rent a car, this will allow you to visit all the great beaches in the area: Magens Bay, Coki, Secret Harbor, and a quick drive to the ferry over to St Johns (most beautiful, clean, and some were the quietest i've ever visited in the Carribean)

Point Pleasant Review

Life Aug 14, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Overall it was a nice stay. Spent lots of time off the property. Rooms were set up nice and had a full service kitchen ... which saved money as restaurants on St Thomas are expensive. View of the ocean and near by islands were beautiful. Great balconies to see those view. Restaurants on property were good. Negatives were that there was not a nice beach on the property and I love the water. There were some near by but its nice to have one on the property that you can walk to. Property was hard to walk. Steep and hilly. There were shuttles that would take you around the property and they were quick to pick you up when you called.

Worst Customer Service

Dusty in St. Thomas Aug 9, 2009

The view from the room was excellent. That is about the best thing I can say about this property. Every single staff member ... we encountered (other than at Fungi's restaurant) was either completely rude, or demonstrated a complete lack of customer service. In fact, on our last morning, one of the shuttle drivers proceeded to yell at us because he parked his vehicle directly behind us and we asked him if he could move his shuttle so we could leave for the airport. The front desk clerk didn't even look up when asked questions, and would hardly provide complete sentences (other than a grunt) to answer questions. The rooms may vary (we didn't see others), but ours demonstrated a complete lack of upkeep. The door handles were literally falling off. The interior hadn't been dusted (ever??) in a long time. The bed and bathroom were covered in ants. The parking at the property is 'tricky' because of the particular hillside layout. This wouldn't be so difficult, except that the staff routinely parked their vehicles in a manner so that they completely blocked traffic in/out of some of the more difficult locations. Thank goodness for that view...

great view -poor service

post sail charter chillers Jul 17, 2009

The location on the eastern end of St. Thomas assures steady comfortable on shore winds (no bugs)the temperature in mid July ... 2009 was ideal and the view from the balcony was stupendous. Unfortunately, as the stickers on the window of the reception area indicate, this facility peaked about 1999 -it could use a major influx of money. The resort next door has gone under and the beach was shared with that resort and needs attention. Two of the three pools were fine and the food for lunch and dinner was all we expected but we were surprised we had to take a shuttle outside the gated resort to get breakfast. The room had a full kitchen but we couldn't stock any food without wasting valuable time taking a taxi to a market. Under no circumstances should the elderly or physically challenged consider this resort. It's built on the sheer side of a steep hill and really needs something like a ski lift to allow for moving about. Instead it has a single shuttle driver who expects a tip everytime you take it and you have no choice but to take it if you are ascending. The staff were simply poor. When we told them we had a return flight that required a 5:30 a.m. taxi pick up they informed us they were sorry they were not open that early and couldn't even help us with our bags which we had to manuver down the mountain since the road up to the room was too winding and steep for a van size taxi to travel on. There is a really funky public beach - Coki Beach a short walk past the resort beach past flotsam and getsum, discarded car parts and run down hovels. Nevertheless it has a terrific local ambiance and was quite popular with a number of vacationers from a variety of nearby resorts - loud regae music blaring, numerous water sport, booze & food on the beach delivered to you friendly crafts hawkers and a terrific beach for swimming and sunning although three chairs and a umbrella cost $25 for the day.

Fantastic place and What a View!

Terry Jul 14, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

Great location and fantastic room. Large delux room with recent renovations and wraparound balcony that over looked the ... bay. Room felt more like an apartment then a hotel, yet you had maid service. Close to ferry that takes you to St. Johns and easy access to other parts of the island. Must have car or pay quite an expense for taxis. Resort is set in the several hills, but has shuttle service to get you around. Would defintely return!!

Would recommend to a friend!

Our Stay at the resort was AWESOME! The location was amazing. The mornings being woken up the the sound of the ocean and the ... sun rising was breath taking. The woman that woked up front in the lobey and greeted us told us that she would be up in her office everyday. And everytime that my wife and I went up there to ask her for some imformation she wasnt there. Altouhg there were bugs in our, the stay at the resort was amazing.

Overall Service TERRIBLE

Matt Jun 11, 2009

In 5 days the "housekeeping" staff only came twice. They show up at 5:00pm and then only do some work. I used the same beach ... towel for 5 days. The units are dirty.

The comforts of home with an island feel

Donielle - Honeymooner May 25, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

This hotel is set right on a bay with beautiful views at every turn. I wouldn't however recommend it for anyone with ... disabilities since it is carved right in the side of a hill and requires you to hike to get around the grounds. The cafe, Fungi's, is a great place to take in the views and have a good drink. And I loved that the hotel was in walking distance to Coki Beach - a somewhat well known but underappreciated beach with good snorkeling and local appeal. As for food, ut was also very nice to have a full kitchen in every room so that you can save on food by cooking in if you prefer. They don't have any room service options and a lot of the island's restaurants and bars close early so it was great to have a stash of food on hand. Overall it was a great place for us to have our honeymoon!

Not going back

Disappointed traveler May 10, 2009

We had arrived after 9PM, having taken 12 hours to arrive on the island. The front desk was dark; the last two employees ... were leaving at the moment we were walking in, so luckily one of them helped us. How were we to know that a "welcome bag" was on the darkened countertop, complete with our room key? Agave Restaurant was able to accomodate us for a late meal, as airport food was all we had all day. The bathroom was VERY dated and not very clean. There were strands of hair in the shower prior to our using it. I was not comfortable using the shower without first placing a hand towel on the shower floor, to avoid contact with this floor.

NIce w/ reservations

Midwestern hillbilly May 10, 2009

Would recommend to a friend!

As is the case w/ all of St Thomas, the staff is pretty indifferent to what the customers need. It is more of the culture of ... the people than anything else- service at the Agave restaurant is superb, service at Fungi's is pretty indifferent. Maid service at our room was non-existent, they came in once every other day and changed the towels and made the bed. The room size was superb and so was the view from the balcony- beautiful view of the ocean. The problem with Point Pleasant is the distance and cost to get basic supplies. Red Hook is the nearest town @ about 3 miles away- or $5 EA by taxi- the "safari" is $2 EA, but it is sometimes hard to tell the difference between the 2. If you take the "safari" back to PP, you have to go all around the island again- about an hour. Transportation around the island is the biggest pain- probably should have rented a car.

Money savers tip, Short Drive

Bring cash in St. Thomas! All cab rides are per person which range from $4-$15 one way. You can spend alot in just transportation.

Food can be expensive, you can save by making some of your own meals.

--Bklynchic, Maryland Sep 9, 2009

Time savers tip

Rent a car, this will allow you to visit all the great beaches in the area: Magens Bay, Coki, Secret Harbor, and a quick drive to the ferry over to St Johns (most beautiful, clean, and some were the quietest i've ever visited in the Carribean)

--Fredi, Detroit, MI Aug 22, 2009

Money savers tip

Use the kitchen to save moneyy and if you're going to be traveling off the property on a regular I would rent a car. Two of us spent well over a hundred for the 4 day stay on taxi's.

--Life, Pontiac, MI Aug 14, 2009

Recreation/Attractions tip, Short Walk

Coki beach....the best on the island. Just walk to the Fungi bar and go left. Walk on pineapple beach and turn right. The beach is on the left.

--Tired nanny, Westchester, NY Aug 10, 2009

For those looking for nightlife, we didn't find it at Point Pleasant. Nothing to do there at night but eat, go for walks on the trails, and simply relax around the pool.

--BB, Ann Arbor Michigan Apr 22, 2009

Dining tip, Short Drive

Do try: The Fat Turtle for a good burger, Wikked for tapas, Oceana for a nice romantic night, Hook, Line & Sinker for seafood, Room With a View for great food and a great wine list. Do not try Agave Terrace in the hotel.

Duffy's Love Shack is great for drinks, there is an Italian Restaurant across the street and Molly Malone's downstairs, parking down below in the garage. There is Fungi's restaurant for Breakfast and Lunch.

Fungis! Great food! Amazing staff! Beautiful on-beach property! Our Favorite!! BBQ Wings are great!

--Jamie, Buffalo, NY Mar 1, 2008

Shopping tip, Short Drive

Shop the open air market in Charlotte Amalie. Take the city bus their for $2.00 or a Taxi for $12.00. You can tell the diffence between a bus and a taxi by how many people are on it. Buses are full of local, while a taxi is has tourist, both get you to town.
