rooms were nice with a big fride and close to grocery store but stove would have been nice in room even if only one burner ... and pans. front desk staff were very unfriendly during the day - two women - phone demenor leaves something to be desired. I blame this on management and lack of training. Resteraunt staff were great especially banquet manager - loved her! accomodated my food allergies and were happy to share and help me.

There are no quality restaurants within walking distance. We did eat several times at a nice little Italian Restaurant in a mall about 2 miles south on A1A named Carinas. Its tucked in the corner of the plaza. Nothing overly fancy but great pasta, pizza and salads at very reasonable prices.

Great Location, Service, Value
Herch1 Nov 22, 2009
Having stayed in beachfront resorts in the past I expected there to be some shortcomings in the Beachcomer when I was ... comparison shopping prices. Nevertheless we proceeded to book. Our expectations were somewhat realized when we checked in. When entering the lobby we were met with a bad odour, a musty dank smell that put us off immediately. When we entered our room the smell was there too but not as pronounced. What got us there was the kitchen cabinetry. It was chipped, pieces missing and very much in need of replacement. We were afraid the whole room was going to be like that and some of it was. The bathroom grouting was badly discoloured with mould in certain areas. It needed a good scrubbing.Looking past our first impressions we opened our balcony door to let some fresh air in and were pleasantly surprised by the view of the beach and the pool. Overall the place is in need of a massive update but we still found good value for the money in our beachfront room. The hotel clerk when checking in and one of the servers in the restaurant were a little indifferent to us otherwise the staff was excellent especially [...]the bartenders outside and in. They are a couple of great guys. The Tiki Bar was fun but we found the specialty drink prices a little "out there". The food prices were up there too but I suppose were resort-like for the mere convenience but at least the quality was there so no real complaints from us.Given the location you pretty much have to drive to get to some night spot or restaurant. We had no problem with this as it made for a quiet evening if we decided to go for a walk on A1A. We would recommend that you bring some air freshener for the room. Get an oceanfront with the view, the refrigerator and microwave. Our stay was in the off season. We lived our plan to do not much more than take long walks on the beach morning and afternoon and sit around the pool. So if you are looking for this type of quiet get away then I would recommend the Beachcomer highly. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Beachcomer. That said management could make some little improvements that could have made our stay even more enjoyable. Regardless we will be going back in the spring for hopefully longer than just a week this time.

LIL K Oct 15, 2009
While I was in FL I relaxed on the beach & by the pool. The staff was friendly and the drinks were great. The balcony view ... was also a plus and lots of great scenic pictures were taken. Great that the hotel is going Green, a suggestion or 2: If a hand towel etc. needs to be cleaned it would be nice if a clean hand towel/wash cloth etc would be replaced instead of just having a big towel and nothing else. Also, some towels get moved while the room is being cleaned & when more than 1 person is in the room not knowing which towel they used becomes a little bit of an issue. Also, would be nice if the inside hotel bar would be opened later for drinks & appetizers.

15 Minutes from Las Olas - great place to Dine & see different fancy shops. Whenever I am in Pompano Beach/Ft. Lauderdale I always make a stop there. Samba Room has the best Mojitos. Also Ft. Lauderdale Beach is along the way with more beach stores & bars.

The ceiling fan was not stable. The bath tub had water floating under it, you could literly feel the tub move during the ... shower. Across the street there is a great little restaurant that is inexpensive with really good food, and a little store to bring back snacks for your refrigerator.
--familyfun, springfield, MA Aug 11, 2009
Take advantage of the Junior suites because they come with a kitchenette. Publix is less than a mile away and unless you are eating in the Hotel (which has great food) there are not that many places to eat in the area. So in purchasing food from a grocery store and preparing it in your kitchenette, you never have to get out of you bathing suit!!!
--less stressed mom, miami, fl Aug 11, 2009
Across from the hotel was a convenience store and a short walk away were shops for beachwear/clothing and a national full-line pharmacy.
