Tobago's climate is great year round. We have white sandy beaches and great coral reefs. Tobago is ideal for beach vacations, eco and adventure travel, diving, golf and culinary experiences. Tobago's topography is rugged, with low mountains and elevations up to 1890 feet. Its area is 116 square miles. When you take your first step out of the plane, you feel the warmth. There is a breeze blowing in the adjacent palms. Tobago is yours to enjoy, yours to explore. Tobago is an Eden – flora and fauna in abundance (nothing too fierce, countless species of flowers, birds and butterflies). The Main Rain Forest Ridge, the island's jungle-stopped spine, has been a protected reserve since 1776, making it the oldest example of eco-consciousness in the Western Hemisphere.
Bird watching is especially popular because of the 425 diverse species that can be seen when you visit the Grafton Caledonia Sanctuary, the Main Forest Ridge Rainforest and Little Tobago Island. Tobago's hiking trails include Argyle Waterfalls where hikers can discover the island's highest falls at the end of an easy 15 minute hike a long a trail lined with cocoa trees and the Main Forest Ridge. Tobago is one of the few locations in the world where visitors can watch Leatherback Sea Turtles lay their eggs. From March through August, the endangered species weighing as much as 1,000 pounds nest on the north shore of the Southwestern part of the island from Great Courland Bay to the aptly-named Turtle Beach. Tobago's rich earth grows much of the delicious food available. The fertile seas render up some of the world's best fish and seafood. From local dishes such as Curried Crab & Dumpling, Flying Fish to Italian, French, Indian, and International cuisine is available in the most relaxing settings. We have a variety of events such as the Tobago Jazz festival held every April and past acts included Sting, Elton John, Stevie Wonder, Natalie Cole, Vanessa Williams, Diana Ross, Mary J. Blige and Al Green Goat Races and Heritage Festival are also colorful attractions.
In Tobago, drift dives predominate. The currents vary in strength from site to site, so there is something for every type of diver, from novice to the most experienced. While exploring the waters in Speyside, don't forget to check out Kelleston Drain, the home to the reputed largest brain coral in the Caribbean. Divers will find a variety of hard and soft corals. Golfers can play at the Tobago Plantations Golf Course & Country Club, located on the 750-acre Lowlands Estate or the Mount Irvine Bay Golf Course set within gently rolling countryside along the North Coast of Tobago.
