It's time for a little vacation "show and tell."
We asked moms and dads on the Orbitz Parent Panel to share their recommendations for memorable family vacations. Topping the list were tales of Rome gelato, shelling and sand castles, helicopter and ATV rides, national park and wildlife adventures, and fishing for fun in Disney, of all places.
See through their pictures and words why these 10 getaways were worth the trip.
The Orbitz Parents Panel
We went looking for travel experts who were also doting parents and found them right under our nose. These Orbitz parents have plenty of experience traveling to a variety of destinations with children of all ages. Join them as they share their vacation adventures, mistakes and successes -- as well as personal strategies, tips, and opinions.
Ian Ross is the father of two children ages 19 and 21. His family loves beach vacations, especially in Aruba, Cabo San Lucas and Florida.
Carla Alberti is a market manager for Orbitz. Her travels have taken her all over the U.S. and Canada, Europe and the Caribbean. She and her husband are instilling the travel bug in their 4-year-old son, who loves planes and beach destinations.
Abby Samler is a senior market manager for Los Angeles and mother of three girls ages 9, 7 and 5. Her family looks forward to an action-packed travel schedule, and she treasures the memories their trips create.
Josh Winkler is a regional vice president for Orbitz Partner Marketing group and dad to a toddler and a newborn. Josh and his wife travel more now than they did before having kids. They love the family bonding they get on beach vacations in Hawaii, Mexico and the Caribbean.
Alison Ulrich is an internal audit manager at Orbitz. She and her husband are parents to a 2-year-old son. They enjoy cruising, scuba diving, beach vacations, and traveling anywhere else a 2-year-old would like.
Frank Gruger works to improve the user experience of Orbitz.com. With the loving encouragement of his wife, his daughter saw the streets of London, Venice, Rome, and Tokyo, and swam in the Pacific Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, and Sagami Bay -- all before her first birthday. Phew!
Monica is a full-time working mom to a rambunctious preschooler, Logan. She enjoys cooking and spending time with her husband and son exploring their Chicago northside neighborhood.
Mary Flynn is an Orlando native with 4 children, ages 21, 19 and 8-year-old twins. She also has two grandsons who are 19- and 6-months old. She travels all the time with some -- if not all -- the kids.
Dannelle Sibley is a full-time working mother and wife. With an 8-year-old daughter and 6-year-old son, she likes to plan travel vacations that are fun as well as educational.
If her preschooler grows up and complains, "Mom, you never let me do anything," Orbitz editor Mary-Jo Lipman is going to remind him that his parents took him to Paris, Turks & Caicos, Boston, Atlanta, San Francisco, Orlando, South Florida, Dallas, Maine and St. Louis within his first 2.5 years.
Chris Hill currently resides in Texas because it is too Cold up North. His family is self-proclaimed "Theme Park Junkies," including his wife, 6-year-old son and 4-year-old daughter, who are always looking for the next adventure.
Vanessa Aleksic is a full-time working mother to 2 young boys. After work, you can find her singing children's songs out of tune with her eldest or crawling after her youngest. In the few miraculously calm moments, she tries to find time to read, scrapbook, and plan her next travel adventure.
Patrick O'Neil and his wife love creating opportunities for their girls, ages 7 and 9, to enjoy and appreciate the adventure of travel -- whether driving to Boston and New York, or flying to Miami and Paris.
Mark McCullough, father of 3 children under age 6, often reminisces about his former life as a raft guide and rock-climbing instructor. Now his outings are more subdued, like canoeing along the tidal rivers in Virginia's historic triangle of Jamestown, Yorktown and Colonial Williamsburg.
John George is a full-time working dad to his 11-year-old son. After visiting every continent, save Antarctica, he was domesticated by his wife Jenny. Their family enjoys cruising, beach vacations and getaways to the Big Apple.
Vacation show and tell: Top 10 getaways

Who: Nina
Destination: Captiva Island, Florida
Best part of the trip: Staying at the heavenly, super kid-friendly South Seas Island Resort. We ditched our car for a golf cart and bikes, and explored every stretch of the nearly three-mile resort that felt more like its own Caribbean island. We loved the pristine, shell-laden beaches as much as the giant pool complex with slides, sprays, and serene Gulf views. The kids went gaga for everything: shelling, kayaking, manatee watching, dolphin cruising, fishing, and especially daily stops at the 50s-themed sweet shop.

Who: Carla
Destination: Taormina (Sicily) and Rome, Italy
Best part of the trip: Aside from the great beach in Taormina, which was a hit, the hotel also had a kids pool. Our days were spent going from beach to pool. In Rome we stayed at the B&H Waldorf Hotel, which was close to the metro and made it easy to get around. Coliseum, Trevi fountain and the gelato were highlights. Actually, the trip to Italy was all about the gelato and how much could be consumed in 12 days!

Who: Chris
Destination: National Parks of Arizona and Utah
Best part of the trip: 6 major national parks within hours of each other, including Arches, Zion, and even the Grand Canyon North Rim. Get the National Park Pass, rent a car, and enjoy the scenic drives. And don't forget to ask the Rangers for a Jr. Ranger Booklet for younger kids. They will love the badge and ceremony.

Who: Frank
Destination: Kauai, Hawaii
Best part of the trip: The highlight of any trip to Kauai is the helicopter ride, even if your young one dozes off mid-flight. We stayed in private condos in Poipu, on the southern end of the island, and at Celebrity Resorts Kauai, in Princeville to the north.

Who: Frank(again)
Destination: Venice, Tuscany, the Amalfi Coast, Italy
Best part of the trip: The entire trip was fabulous but we ended the trip by staying at Hotel Conca d'Oro and enjoying our view of the town of Positano, on the Amalfi Coast. Second only to the sights in Italy are tastes: leisurely hotel breakfasts, gelato, hearty dinners…
