All-inclusive vacations are wildly popular, for good reason. These packages make it easy for travelers to bliss out at the beach and explore new destinations. One payment covers it all -- hotel, meals, activities, taxes, entertainment and more. Once you've boarded the plane, your mind is released from all decision making and your body slips into relaxation mode for your entire vacation.
But many folks think all-inclusive vacations mean crowded pools, mediocre meals and limited entertainment options. They're wrong. Today's all-inclusive packages include inexpensive resorts with unlimited activities and exclusive hideaways with championship golf courses and world-class spas.
If you've never taken an all-inclusive vacation, or just want to know the inside scoop, here are some frequently asked questions:
What's included in my bill?
Costs are clearly spelled out in our vacation package descriptions. They include airfare, accommodations, meals, and listed activities. All taxes are included as well, along with resort fees and -- best of all -- gratuities. You can stash your plastic and cash the moment you arrive and never see menus prices or bar tabs.
How can I save more on an all-inclusive vacation?
Book your flight + hotel together. Orbitz gives you access to discounted rates that you wouldn?t see booking separately. Plus, we?ll show you how much you'll save.
Can I leave the resort?
Just because you're staying at an all-inclusive doesn't mean you can't explore your surroundings. Most packages include tours of the area or shuttles to nearby attractions. And most resorts have car-rental desks and concierges who can help you choose additional expeditions geared to your interests. Since you're not paying each time you dine, you're free to use your discretionary cash to zip over the treetops on a jungle canopy tour, climb ancient pyramids, or wander through local villages.
Can dine or use facilities at nearby resorts?
Most resorts have enough activities and dining options to satisfy relaxed vacationers. But if you crave more activity, several resorts offer privileges at nearby properties so you can explore new restaurants, beaches, spas and destinations whenever you wish. On Jamaica, Sandals offers shuttles between its Ocho Rios properties. Guests at the Cozumel Palace in Mexico can ferry to the mainland and use the facilities at the Cozumel Playacar. If you have wanderlust in your soul, choose a hotel with guest privileges elsewhere.
Can I get the type of vacation I want?
While some all-inclusive resorts offer something for everyone, others target vacationers with specific interests. For golfers, Moon Palace's all-inclusive package includes daily play at its Jack Nicklaus course. The Royal Hideaway is geared toward couples seeking romance, gourmet dining and personalized service, while Breezes Runaway Bay includes scuba diving at fabulous underwater walls and canyons.
What if I want a vacation without kids?
Choose an adults-only resort, which allows guests 18 and older. Secrets, Sandals and Palace all have adults-only properties. Some emphasize fun, while others offer seclusion, serenity and fabulous spas.
